| Your Personal Biography |
Born in 1965 in Schwerin in Eastern Germany, Silka Schwietzer first
exhibited at the age of 12.
Following this first exhibition her artwork was competing in contests and was ultimately chosen
to be exhibited in Berlin and be part of a group exhibition in 1981.
Leaving the country in 1983, Silka then worked as an independent artist
and experimented with different types of media. In 1986 she left Hambourg to live in Southern France where she painted, exhibited and sold her art work in a studio in the ancient city of Toulouse. After many years of sharing a studio with an insparational photographer who taught her to see life above, behind and from a different angle. She was inspired to make a life long dream a reality and learn to fly. All of which influence her artwork today.
Since 2003 she has lived in Lezignan – Corbieres on the Mediterranean coast.
During 2008 Silka and her friends restored a two hundred year old building creating a studio of special ambience to work on larger, deeper and more complex works of art.
