Artist Statement:
Why is it, or how is it that after the most incredible artistic revolution which occurred at the beginning of the last century, Art has become the most static of all the arts. Considering, that experimentation into the use of computers and technology in artistic expression started proper in the 50’s, why then is art not catering for increased social awareness and using the tools that are currently and for some time have been at their disposal. What would the Futurists, Cubists, Constructivists etc. have made of this advanced technology, if you consider for example what the Futurists did with cinema in 1916, and the cubists with painting and sculpture. Lets not, belittle all the very unique and ground breaking work that was created in the 50 years that followed, Fluxus, OP Art, pop art, kinetic art, happenings etc. It seems after Nam juin Pak, everything went horizontal, even his work...What is next? What has happened to the modern day artist? Commerciality perhaps! Lack of inspiration? Skill? Time?...

| Your Personal Biography |
After spending 2 years is Paris studying, developing, and creating a style & concepts, I moved to Shanghai to teach VC & NM to Chinese students. 3 years, 3 exhibitions later I have returned to Europe, Denmark and after taking a break, have started creating works again.
In College I studied Art & Design Education, majoring in VC in NCAD, Dublin. My skills and knowledge developed quickly here, in all areas of Graphics & Fine art, as well as art history, sociology, philosophy and psychology of education.
I brought these skills with me into commercial multimedia, and within 1 year had become Creative director. Over the next 6 years I learnt everything about production in all areas of MM for all platforms, inc. development of high end video and animation.
It was in Shanghai that I found myself mentally ready to channel all I have learned and studied into my Art. My work (mediart) consists of Digital print & stills, visual and interactive installations, painting & sculpture. A lot of my projects are very ambitious in scale, so as a non-commercial artist I do not support the finance to produce them. I am currently working on several pieces for my first large show in Denmark. |
