Artist Statement:
Since design, imagery,
materials and techniques are
optimally adapted to what is
being communicated and because
of ongoing experiments with
techniques and alternative
materials the existing body of
work is of such a diversity
not one single artwork covers
the cargo. Both the full body
of work and each individual
artwork is an artistic
crucible of photographic,
digital and traditional
drawing, painting and collage
techniques, different and
often alternative materials
(such as metal, moss and sand)
and several art styles.
Inspired by the human psyche,
nature, cosmic processes, the
spiritual and occult, voice is
given to inner awareness, the
whimsicality and
stratification of life, the
beauty of imperfection, the
value of detail, mood and
often strong emotions are
being expressed. All in a
unique personal style that
wanders around in the twilight
zone between abstraction,
expressionism, realism,
surrealism, magic realism and
spiritualism.
The artwork is characterized
by particularly strong and
interesting compositions, a
both physical and conceptual
stratification and a tangible
tension between the introvert
and the expressive. Except
playfull, expressive, honest
and direct it mostly is also
intens, imploring, penetrating
and confronting....

| Your Personal Biography |
After graduating highschool in 1975 I wanted to go to artschool, but I was rejected because I was too young. After a teachers training and several years in education, I still made the switch to the arts.
From 1987 to 1993 I made a living as a rockphotographer. My pictures received several awards and were published in musicmagazines around the world and on record/cd covers. After focussing on digital imaging and multimedia production for a while I returned to photography in 2002. Late 2005 I took my first steps into the artworld with a series of abstracted macro photo’s of flowers.
Early 2007 I moved to a spacious studio in the center of Arnhem. Still in the middle of moving house, positive comments on my art and invitations to exhibit my photographs started to roll in from all over Europe. After being awarded a few times during that summer I also enjoyed a growing interest from the USA.
At present I mainly focus on further developing my artistic talents in the shape of mixed media art wherein all experience and skills in photography, digital imaging, digital printing, drawing and painting are brought together with alternative materials and printing techniques.
