Artist Statement:
I am a Deputy Sheriff by
profession and have been a Law
Enforcement Officer since
1995. The art of Scrimshaw

a museum in Charleston, S.C.
There were several pieces of
Scrimshaw on display that were
created by Sailors in the

leave behind? How will people
remember me?” These ordinary
men who created these works of
art left a little something of
themselves in each piece and I
wanted to do the same! I
wanted to create something
that would be around long
after I am gone.

on the subject. Finally
through trial and error found
my style...
