Artist Statement:
“My paintings are portraits of a singular moment, captured immediately by camera and quick sketches then transformed by my memories, emotions and style. I hope to share that moment with the viewers, as well as to evoke memories of similar moments in their own lives, to provoke a pause, to cause the viewer to stop and consider how the commonplace and the everyday can be special.
For many years I found the most joy in watercolor. Like many other artists, I appreciate the immediacy and spontaneity of this medium. However, I am constantly experimenting with various mediums and many of my newer works on paper are being created using acrylics. This new direction has allowed me to explore my art language in a different medium while still retaining the transparency and luminosity of watercolor. I am also enjoying creating more and more pieces in oil.
John Singer Sargent, Degas, Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida, and several other American and world Impressionists are the painters who inspire me most of all, though I have an appreciation of many styles and eras of art.”

| Your Personal Biography |
As a child Stephanie began showing an interest in art by emulating her artist mother. At an early age she favored paint boxes over dolls and soon began expressing her everyday experiences on paper. Throughout her schooling, art was a major focus in her studies. She began selling her paintings at off campus street fairs while studying at the University of California at Berkeley. Since that time she has shown in several galleries as well as continuing to participate in art festivals throughout California and Nevada.
Much of her work involves the human figure, as the interaction between people and their environment is what she finds to be most dynamic. This is also how she approaches portraiture, preferring to paint her subjects engaged with their surroundings.
Always on the lookout for that convergence of circumstance, composition, light and shadow that create a magic moment, her travels throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico and Costa Rica have been the inspiration for many paintings.
Much of her work has been commissioned specifically for restaurants, hotels and office buildings, as well as private collections. Her work has been seen in magazines, interior design publications and print ads, and is in the collections of an international clientele.
Stephanie currently makes her home in the San Francisco Bay Area.
