| Your Personal Biography |
Soņa Holman, a native of San Francisco, has spent a lot of her life moving, The diverse cultures that she has lived in, both as a child and adult, Micronesia, Switzerland, Mexico, Canada, Mississippi and California, have greatly influenced her artistic sensibility.
I was often an outsider looking in, seeking a way to connect with others, to become comfortable in new environments. The mysterious link of the human psyche became a way understanding, of finding common ground. Art has always been with me and I was drawn to abstraction and contemporary art from an early age. It just made sense to me - Paul Klee, Kandinsky, De Kooning.... I love the freedom and challenges of abstraction and the myriad ways a viewer can experience the art. Creating pieces that cultivate contemplation and inquiry is very compelling.
Soņas studio is in Marin County, where she was awarded a Marin Arts Council Career Grant in 2006. She has been painting for over 20 years, exhibiting in numerous venues & juried shows in California, Canada and Mexico. Still a passionate traveler and meditator, she has found that home is not a place; its a state of mind.
