Artist Statement:
My paintings start from things
seen: these visual stimula
are not translated literally,
but filtered and modified by
everything else in my life. I
think we are often attracted
to certain sights because they
relate to what we are living
and thinking at the moment.
For example, I lived for many
years immersed in the Roman
countryside and this had a
strong influence on my
painting, with landscapes
(however
abstract) dominating.
Ultimately, painting is about
shape
and color on a flat surface,
but I still feel that
recognizable images are a part
of communicating what I’m
trying say....
