Artist Statement:
Simon Peter Kregar, Jr. was
born in 1967 to a Slovenian
immigrant and a former child
actress. From a very early
age, Simon showed interest in
the arts and was influenced by
his father, an award-winning
watercolorist. As a young
adult, Simon turned to the
graphic arts and stained
glass. With a formal art
education from Northern
Arizona University and having
studied in New York City, it
wasn't until his mother's
death in 1997 that he took
painting seriously. Simon has
lived in New York City, Los
Angeles and now resides as a
portrait artist in Tucson,
Arizona, with his son Simon
Paul, girlfriend and
inspiration Theresa, and two
dogs, Diego and Kahlo. His
other interests include
astronomy, anthropology,
history, running, education,
and conversation over cards
and beer.
Mr. Kregar has been shown at
the Gallery 55Main in Bisbee,
the Art Squared Art Market,
and most recently he has been
involved with the Gallery of
the Holy Ghost in Tucson
Q: What are your influences?
I feel that the
majority of Modern Art is more
intellectual exercise rather
than true emotive artwork. I
feel it is necessary to
utilize components from
different art movements in
each painting ...

Welcome to Simon Kregar's Portfolio.
Simon Peter Kregar, Jr. was born in 1967 to a Slovenian immigrant and a former child actress.
