Artist Statement:
I inspire to make art that creates life in something that was once a blank canvas. I like to paint impressionist waterscapes. I'm a self taught artist that loves to paint scenes from my travels. The signature of my work is my use of brilliant colors that radiate from the canvas and capture the hearts of the observers.

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
When I was very young I use to sit and watch my grandmother paint and was always brought me such enjoyment, it was that she could create something orginal, different. I became an artist because I believe the only reward for conformity is that everyone likes you except yourself. I chose to do something different, something that would bring happiness to others. |

| Your Personal Biography |
Born in Louisville, KY in 1974, Stephen McBride is the decedant of a long line of artists. His inspiration to paint comes from that of his grandmother, a sucessful oil painter and sculptor whom lives in Savannah, Georgia. He spent many hours of his youthful years watching her create her masterful works of art. His great grandmother was also a published poet from the Savannah area and his decedants from Ireland on his father's side of the family were all accomplished musicians. He is a self-taught artist with no formal training. Stephen began to showed his artistic talents at very young age and at age 10 was presented an award for his art as part of a youth art convention in Japan. His inspiration to paint impressionist waterscapes comes from the combination for both his appreciation for Monet's works of art and his love for the water. Although Stephen's father's side of the family came over from Ireland as musicians, in America the Irish were highly discriminated against, so they made a living as laborers on Steamboats. As that of his family, Stephen has made some of his living as both a Deckhand and now a Riverboat Captain. As a Captain, he has spent many hours watching the water and noticed how it captures and radiates colors from that of it environment, creating a natural reflective canvas of beautiful art. Stephen resides in Crestwood, Ky, a short distance from the historic Ohio River. In his spare time Stephen likes to play his guitar, read and write. He loves to spend time with his children. He is currently writing a book about a River Family Dynasty ( a book based on his family's heritage).
