ARTIST’S STATEMENT: August, 2011.
My art career is very new to me. I started creating mosaics almost three years ago and I was hooked. This began my interest to become a glass artist. My work is hand cut and each mosaic is created using the direct method. I am self-taught if you don't count the internet. I have read books on mosaics and looked at hundreds online. I have a collection from a few wonderful artists, as my interest is strong. Finding new and exciting Tesserae, or the individual pieces of material I will arrange to form the mosaic, holds endless possibilities. I strive to provide different textures, pure shine as I like to call it, and various shapes in each piece of glass art. They take on characteristics of the surrounding environment. Light is crucial to the perfect setting for glass. I like to think of the infinite effects glass art can offer.
I started creating fused glass pieces last January when I finally got my glass kiln. So very exciting! I wanted to fuse glass for years, but never had the opportunity until now and I love it... Etsy and many glass artists ... |
