Artist Statement:
Though various forms of beadwork have crossed my path throughout my years, it wasn't until I made the life-altering decision to become clean and sober that beadwork took on my life's ambition. Arts and crafts had played a major role in my life's upbringing, especially coming from a poor but extremely talented family background. My late father had been a Ferrier, a horse trainer, blacksmith; he also crocheted and did tatting, as well as being a silver smith, in his own right. I also believe he was the original ‘Horse Whisperer”, but that is a whole ‘nuther subject.
My Mother was a talented leather carver, knitter, and crotchetier. My older sister, Diane, was the queen of Macramé’ and my younger sister, Theresa, had the gift of clothier design beyond the normal comprehensible,………… especially in ethnic arena’s. I drew, painted, sculpted, and explored all the artistic mediums, ………beads became me, I become the beads, and beads have become my artistic voice.
