|
I AM A RECYCLER. Most of my life I have been drawn to objects deemed unworthy to be in our presence, Castaways. I find them in junk yards, landfills, yard sales, on the side of the road, and other odd places...or should I say they find me. In street corner gutters, on subway tracks, in our parks, and on our beaches. If you just look down, youwill see them. They are all over.
Coupling humor with a strong sense of composition makes the found objects fit together like puzzle pieces. I end with a whimsy mix that is delightful yet deep. Each object comes with its own unmistakable energy.
I find these objects incredibly magical, full of life and expression. They are just asking, once again, to be part of our value system. Their histories speak to me and I adopt them. I bring them home and give them a new life, a new history, and create the possibility of being brought back into our society.
PORTRAITS- commissioned sculpts created wtih found objects. Interior, exterior, large, small.
The portraits are developed after a client interview which allows me to get a feel of the person. Then I use my intuition to fit the objects together in a figurative, narrative way.
SECOND SOULS- these are created with no agenda except the finished work must feel alive, have the 'breadth of movement' and of course, a soul.
