Welcome to Susan Lhamo's Portfolio.
A sense of immediacy in response to both the experienced and imagined worlds,is the principal intention in the making of my paintings; layers of texture, colour and line bring forth the sense of multiple surfaces which in itself holds the structure of the picture. I invite the viewer to inquire what is concealed, what is revealed.
Landscapes are often referenced in my artworks and I like to create an emphasis on contrast between colours and tones, sometimes including symbols to entice the viewers' attention and invite their pre-occupation. I'm also expressing the pleasure of working paint and moving it around a surface.
Making art, for me, is an innate response to the inner and outer worlds, and a balancing act between the intuitive and the considered.
