Susan Wellington is a painter who explores colour and energy patterns within forms, reducing and simplifying the figurative elements in her landscapes to reveal their wholistic essence. While the genre of landscape lives with the constant threat of irrelevancy, because of global environmental degradation and destruction it has been reinvigorated as a genre but in many different forms of expression. Her formal approach is influenced by Australian, European and Asian landscape and modernist painting traditions. Wellington's paintings are vibrant, with a contained intensity and have a characteristically brilliant and modulated colouration and rough and ready brushwork. Underpinning them is a spiritual practice which enlarges and enriches the parameters of her art.

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
It just happened. I was trying to go to graphic design school but the interviewer said 'oh you're an artist'. That was that. I went to art school when I was 19 and never stopped painting. |
