Artist Statement:
My current project “Organic
Geometry.” Organic Geometry is
the mathematical extrapolation
of the rymthic beat of music,
plotted and captured in a
moment of time. The
relationships between Science
& Music & Math & Art, and the
translation of the
relationship into visual art.
Mathematics is the majestic
structure conceived by man to
grant him comprehension of the
universe. It holds both the
absolute and infinite, the
understandable and the forever
elusive. It has been said by
Leibnitz that, music is a
secret mathematical exercise.
Music has these qualities, a
rhythmic beat, musical notes
in perfect harmony, and at the
same time seemingly random
beauty. Ironically so do Math
and Science. The Art is the
medium to share the
relationships....

Work in Progress by R.B. Merle - June 2006 - R.B. Merle is an critic living in the San Francisco Bay Area. A review of the launch of the Reva Series. Reva is a journey through the process of time and expression of Charles Gibbons. Gibbons work is an investigation into the mystery of the self, a rumination in paint on life’s great spiritual themes. The pieces achieve a complex subtext through gloriously tactile paint handling and obsessive engagement with the act of painting. The result is an inquiry into inner life.
