Artist Statement:
I paint almost exclusively from photographs that I have taken in the many places I have travelled over the past 15 years or so. Through oil paint, I try to re-create the feeling and texture of that moment in time and place I was in.
I use mechanical pencil to sketch out my canvases, the sketch process can take 15 minutes for a simple composition to several days for more complicated compositions.
I use Lukas oil, artist studio paints.
Painting time varies from work to work, some are finished in one session, others take several days to complete.

| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
The more I learn about Van Gogh's life, the more inspired I become to create art as he did. He gave "everything" to his craft, I can only hope to approach his level of dedication and sacrifice. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I have always been an artist. Even as a child, I was expected to have artistic talent and "become" something later on. I have finally made the decision to tap into my artistic ability to create meaningfull artworks that will last the test of time. |

| Your Personal Biography |
I am a classically trained visual artist, having studied drawing and painting at SUNY Purchase and The School of Visual Arts in New York City from 1987-1989. I grew up surrounded by fine art and artists in New York City in the mid to late 1970's. My mother, Frances Lassiter, was founder and chairman of the fine arts department of New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, Long Island. My parents, Norman and Frances Lassiter, produced screen prints for many premiere fine artists of that time and I personally was able to visit artist homes and studios as a child. Being able to visit the studios of Jasper Johns, Romare Bearden, Leroy Neiman, Red Grooms and Richard Anuskiezwicz made a powerful and lasting impression upon my outlook on fine art and the fine art process.
