| Why Did You Become An Artist |
My passion in Bird watching and wild life since childhood along with some born capabilities in animal drawing lead me to become a wildlife artist. In birding and other wildlife studies I used to take field sketches in field notes specially to identify the species improved the ability of drawing.Later the profession related to natural history kept the wildlife painting remaining. |

| Your Personal Biography |
I am a self taught wildlife artist who grew up with interest in birding and wildlife since childhood.
The passion towards birds and wildlife of Sri Lanka lead me to improve the capabilities of wildlife paintings to the present level. During the studies of wildlife and nature I used to take field notes and make field sketches especially in order to identify the species as well as to increase the knowledge of fauna of Sri Lanka. I started going to the field with few of my classmates who were nature lovers at the age of 13 or little earlier I suppose.
On this journey I first met Mr. Jagath Gunawardene who is a foremost naturalist and the most seniour environmental lawyer of Sri Lanka and Mr. Deepal Warakagoda, one of the best ornithilogists of the region. I am grateful to them for helping me in the field during the early era of my life which i was in a thirst to gather knowladge as a nature loving boy.
Later I became a member of the young Zoologists' Association of Sri Lanka in 1995, Most probably the best organization for environmental education in the island and an active voluntary youth organization with it's main concern in environmental conservation. There I met the Instructor of the Aquatic life study group Mr. Shantha jayaweera. Both him and Mr- Prasanna Weerakkodya seniour member of the organization as wella sone of the best marine ecologists were great artists.
The organization holds annual exhibitions each Year and I took a part in almost all the exhibitions from 1998. In those exhibitions I had the opprtunities to share my skills with all other skilled artists including above two.
After the completeion of secondary education from Nalanda College, I was able to obtain a degree in fisheries and Marine Science, though not related to wildlife art.
I joined Bird and wildlife team subsequantly after the great stay in Yala Village Hotel as the resident naturalist for more than a year, as a Natural History Tour Leader.
I think I am a lucky person to have such a rare opportunity to have a job that I love and suits my passion of interest in birds and other fauna. In addition I have spare time to dedicate in doing paintings the most loving thing that is lovely to be occupied for me.
