Artist Statement:
I use oil paint on wood panels to create works of art that comment on the amount of television advertising that I intake on a daily basis. The transparent and translucent qualities of oil paint allow me to layer several advertisements onto one picture plane. My paintings take on three formats; the three formats are derived from my two television sets. The three formats are referred to as the DVR Paintings, the Infomercial Paintings and the Versus Paintings.
For the DVR Paintings, I use a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) to capture every television program that I regularly watch. I then capture one image from each commercial and layer them together to form a completed painting. I use translucent and opaque layers of paint to conceal and reveal interesting juxtapositions. The end result is a series of paintings that represent the fusion of the advertisements within the specific television programs that I watch. Each painting becomes a chronologically ordered and obtrusive amalgamation of commercial advertising.

| Your Personal Biography |
Todd Mosley holds an MFA in painting, from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a BFA in painting from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He also studied painting, drawing, and photography in Lucca and Florence, Italy through a study abroad program offered by the Pratt Institute.
Shortly after receiving his BFA, Mosley moved to Spain. He traveled to Madrid and then on to Sevilla, where he lived and worked until the summer of 2003. He worked part time as an English teacher and was able to devote the majority of his free time to painting, traveling throughout Europe, and gathering inspiration for future artwork.
Mosley has exhibited in several fine art and alternative space galleries throughout Cincinnati and Cleveland, Ohio, Covington, Kentucky, Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia. Mosley has also participated in group exhibitions at Miami University, the Pratt Institute, and the Savannah College of Art and Design. In October of 2004 he had his first solo exhibition at the Montserrat Gallery in Soho, New York. Mosley’s work is featured in several corporate collections throughout Ohio, as well as the permanent collection of the Savannah College of Art and Design. Several of his recent drawings can be viewed at The Drawing Center in New York City and he also has an early drawing held in the permanent collection at the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History.
Mosley currently lives and works out of his studio in the northern suburbs of Cincinnati.
