| Your Personal Biography |
Tracy Lévesque is a self-taught painter based in New England. Primarily a painter of people, Lévesque has only recenty begun to explore the elements of Nature as a mirror for human emotion. In her most recent series of Treescapes, Lévesque draws on the colour, light and form of the natural world as a distinct entity refracted by the imagination of the artist.
Lévesque's portraits and landscapes are done in varying textures using a combination of brushwork and palette knife. The application is done spontaneously and is a direct response to the colour and energy observed in Nature. The flux, movement, individuality and vivaciousness are captured in thick impasto strokes and broad flourishes of pigment. A Treescape or landscape portrait, like a human being, is a character in itself, full of individuality and life. Lévesque's paintings are an attempt to capture and celebrate such a compex creature and share it with the world.
