Artist Statement:
My larger works have the
advantage of size. The beauty
and qualities of the metals
solves the visual problems,
but not the conceptual ones.
Size not only entails
proportion and symmetry. I
don't really know what it's
going to look like. Inside, I
have the image, the idea...
outside the sculpture's form
slowly emerges. The problem is
making the interior logic work
with the exterior
metamorphosis. I don't know
which commands. It's a form of
communication... where it's
leading to I don't know.
It's necessary to work
directly. It's all in the
direct confrontation with
matter. Energy, thought,
sensibility...it all comes out
as you work. I live what I'm
doing. It's much more than the
hard work required: it's
denying yourself for the sake
of your creation, for its
existence.
