Artist Statement:
Creating art work has been my life's pursuit.
Staring from as far back as I can remember.
Art at home, painting bottles, drawing my sisters.
Taking as many art classes as possible.
Becoming a 'Hawk eye' in vision and hand eye coordination.
Destroying works that didn't meet my own criteria.
Ever lasting pursuit of the colors that express the words. Kandinsky, Degas, Gaugan, Monet, Manet, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. This not counting the numerous others that have influenced me in one way or another until today.
Currently working with re-cycled graphic art drawers, old clothes, and lace, which are now all but obsolete. Three pieces: "The Phoenix Rising from the Sun", "The Wedding", and "The Annunciation of the Eminent Outcome".
I WISH TO THANK ALL OF THE FOLKS AT ABSOLUTE ARTS.COM FOR POSTING MY ARTWORK IN MY GOOGLE ACCOUNT!!! I HAVE A DISABILITY AND HOPE TO BE ABLE TO 'UPGRADE' MY ACCOUNT WITH YOU. GOD BLESS, ONDINA E. SOLER...

Though under education, I placed Bachelor of Fine Arts, I was first discovered by my second grade teacher in Astoria N.Y., back in 1962.
I was born in Havana, Cuba and flew over to the states after Fidel took over.
At first, I was self taught during my Elementary years. In Junior High, I got a First Place in a school competition and continued creating artwork at home. In Senior High, I helped create back drops on the stage for special events. I was also the graphic artist for the school newspaper.
Graduating in the top ten percentile, I was the Silver Knight Nominee for Fine Art in 1973.
I received a scholarship to attend Miami Dade C.C. and also an extensive 10 year scholarship under the South Florida Art Institute, which is now closed, due to Elwin Porter's (Director)aging.
I graduated as a Graphic Artist from Miami Lakes Tech.in 1979, and worked in the field for 14 years. Tutored in Adobe Illustrator and Quark (Mac), I still currently produce computer graphics.
I breed several types of exotic birds. Some of them I hand feed.
I love hiking with friends. I do Yoga.
I sketch often to keep it real.

| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
The South Florida Art Institute was my biggest inspiration. I met many artists, young and old alike. We all were searching for the ultimate goal: The thousand words spoken by a painting.
There, I studied Anatomy, Color Theory,
Painting with Water Colors, Acrylics and Oils. They had sketching with different mediums and pencil drawing of the model, they even had a Still Life class.
I was also a modeled at the school many times.
Elwin Porter was the head and heels of the institute. Here's to you, Elwin! |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
When I first arrived in the United States from Cuba, my second grade teacher, Andrea Pack, first noticed my ability with art.
This being at P.S. 171 in Astoria, Queens, N.Y., 1962.
It has always been my pursuit since then.
She left such an impact on me that I'm actually writing and illustrating a story
about her and that time in my life. |

---------------------------------------
Back in the 1980's, I met a lady called Rose Kline at an exhibit at the South Florida Art Institute.
She took me under her wing, per say, and I did several paintings for her.
The most difficult painting I have ever done in my life was for her. It consisted of painting an old antique painting of hers that her husband had given her during their honeymoon in Paris, France.
This painting was of a lady coming out of a marble bath tub, wrapping herself partially by a robe. Along the wall, behind the tub were water pipes for the tub. This painting also depicted the inside of her bed room. It contained a window with a view of the beach, a prism on her window sill, a rainbow on the wall (caused by the prism), among other things. This commission was painted under her specific instructions.
I only have regular photographs of this painting. She died in the early 90's.
