| Your Personal Biography |
uca Giannini was born in Bologna in 1972, where he took his degree in environmental engineering. In 2001 he moved to Rome, and he grew as an artist at the RUFA Rome University of Fine Arts, where he attended the course of painting held by master Tullio de Franco e the course of engraving held by Professor Maria Pina Bentivenga.
From 2004 up to 2005 he settled in Eastern Sicily, where he could borrow the power of light and matter from the artists of the so-called “group of Scicli”.
In 2006 he came back to Rome, where he deepens his studies of Informal and Conceptual Period, particularly Burri, Tapies, Fontana, Kounellis, Manzoni, Vedova, of the german neo-expressionism of Baselitz and Kiefer, and of the new roman school of Pizzi Cannella, Nunzio and Ceccobelli. Fascinated by the relation between matter and symbol, he focuses his human and artistic project on the recover of the symbolic side of reality, on the syntetic representation of environmental matters, on the research of balance between body and soul, and on the dialogue between the earth and the celestial world. He has taken part to several national competitions, winning 11th Massenzio Prize 2007, Rome, and being finalist in the 2006 and 2007 editions of Nomade Prize, Bologna. He joined many group exhibitions in public and private places, among which “100 artworks for the Right to Food”, FAO World Food Day 2007, FAO venue in Rome. In 2007 he had three-man exhibition "di materia e d'Altro" at Fyr Gallery, Florence and solo exhibition "Mater" at Rufartgallery, Rome, curator Andrea Romoli Barberini.
In 2008 he held four-man exhibition "Catarsi" in Orsini Palace, Formello (Roma), sponsored by Council of Formello, RUFA Art Academy, Museum of Chemestry of University La Sapienza, Rome. His artworks are included in private collections in Rome, Bologna, Milan. He currently lives and works in Rome. |
