|
I paint using alkyd oils and occasionally acrylics and mixed media; the forming of a richly textural surface is an important element in building up a painting for me. Drawing, particularly with ink pens, tends to be a quite separate activity for me from painting, so far; it's importance for me lies mainly in developing ideas for jewellery pieces; I also enjoy drawing moving figures, faces, and interiors.
The computer art here is made in Corel Painter.
I can currently supply fine art inkjet prints of most images here on Somerset Velvet 255 gsm heavyweight matte paper up to A4 size; prints of paintings tend to be from high resolution photographs, some smaller works are scanned instead. All digital art and digital photographs are printed at high resolution. Please email me if you are interested in ordering a print. I can usually provide additional photos of paintings, prints and jewellery on request. Prints are sprayed with a delicate professional protective coating layer in matte, silk or gloss finish if wanted tp protect them against humidity and light damage.
During the past couple of years I have begun to design and make fine silver jewellery using precious metal clay (PMC) or Silverclay, sometimes using gemstones; occasionally in metal wire. These pieces are one-off, expressive; often textural. I'm strongly influenced by the limestone and woodland landscape in which I live.
Currently I'm working on very textural pieces in precious metal clay, sometimes patinated to add depth, contrast and variegated tone or colour tints.
Mid-Twentieth century Scandinavian Modernism and also ancient jewellery are my main influences in silver; and I am currently exploring Taoist art in relation to painting, drawing, form and surface.
