| Your Personal Biography |
Veronika K. Varner has been a professional artist for more than 30 years. Born in Hamburg, Germany, the daughter of a vocational artist was exposed to the fine arts in Europe and South America at a very early age.
Varner's work is best described as having a strong, painterly style with inspirations taken from the Northern Renaissance and the early atmospheric work of the New York School. She is a contemporary painter who uses classical methods of careful observation and design principals, achieving a strong sense of light juxtaposed with rich, dark, sumptuous color sonorities.
Varner has shown her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and her paintings are in private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
A former art professor at Southside Virginia Community College in Virginia, she moved to Savannah, Georgia, in 2005 and maintains a strong relationship with her former academic position, teaching art history classes online through the same institution.
Varner also works in watercolor, acrylics, charcoal, multimedia and clay. In addition to her teaching schedule and her artistic endeavors, she gives private instruction in painting locally. Varner readily accepts commission work.
