Artist Statement:
I do not paint only what I see, I paint instead, what I would like to see.
Although I work abstractly I get my inspiration from many aspects of life, both material and non-material. Some of these aspects of life include different emotions, people, animals, places, moods, thoughts, feelings, nature, textures, colors, and human experiences.
I try to express my thoughts, feelings, and passions through the use of medium, , texture, color, knife or brush stroke, line and composition.I work on paper, board and canvas and many of my new collection contains mixed media and submerged imagery, materia and methods. At times a skin of encaustic (wax) covers a portion or the entirety of the work.
For me it is important to continually experiment with different materials and mediums as a way to keep learning and pushing my art further. I am not always an abstract painter but my work is always an abstraction of what I experience.
With every piece I make, I am trying to push my own limits and allow for new possibilities in unexplored places of my mind. Uncovering of these hidden possibilities is probably the main stimulus for my work.
