Artist’s Statement
My goal as an artist is to express emotion, mood and energy, through the eloquent suggestion of the human form in motion. The art of Hung Ga Kung Fu has enhanced my ability to communicate what happens energetically within the balance of the body and the universe on canvas. I am inspired everyday by my teacher, Master Pedro Cepero Yee, and through my training. Another source of inspiration is the study of Anusara Yoga under my teacher and long time friend, Jody Domerstad, of Become One Yoga and Pilates Center. Yoga helps me go deep inside to release blocked emotions, which manifest physically, which in turn allows my creativity to flow naturally and abundantly.
As a martial artist, it is only natural to grow in new dimensions, which enhances my artistic ability allowing me to come full circle. Discovering, embracing and executing hard and soft power, along with the cultivation and manipulation of energy, allows one to feel connection between mind, body and soul. Rhythm, harmony and balance are elements of all arts. I enjoy drawing and painting women, abstract and realistic. Following the flow of curves in the female body is calming and natural. A woman, ...

Biography of Sifu Debbie Weber
Debbie began her training in her chosen art of Hung Ga Kung Fu at Yee's Hung Ga International Kung Fu Association at its Clifton, NJ Branch. The rigorous training and discipline she experienced in her first class proved to be the thing her body and soul needed. She dedicated herself to discovering how truly special this system is. Since then, Debbie has achieved the status and honor of becoming the second female Instructor/Black Belt and a senior disciple of Master Pedro Cepero Yee. She has proudly achieved the level of Sifu 1st Dan (Full Instructor), and is currently serving as the Secretary of the Governing Board for the Association.
Since the beginning of her experience with Kung Fu, Debbie has been a participating member in the Annual New York Chinatown New Year parades in all aspects of the Lion Dance Team; she is proudly the first female Lion Dancer performing under the head in the association’s 35-year history. The position of the head is relegated to men because of the strength it takes to wield the lion in extremely difficult skill testing environments. Debbie has also been in numerous Kung Fu demonstrations in the USA and is a top competitor in Forms, Weapons and Fighting. She also studies Chinese traumatology medicine under her Grandmaster Frank Yee. Debbie is proud to have been a featured performer in the People’s Republic of China where she had the honor of demonstrating her skill for the grand opening of Yee’s Hung Ga’s new China Headquarters and at the ancestral home of her art, the Wong Fei Hung Museum. She has also been featured on China’s sport channel GDTV, on both the news and in the Documentary “Search for the 20 heroes of China” in 2003, As well as numerous Newscasts in the USA.
Debbie’s background as a personal trainer, Pilates instructor and yoga practitioner, as well as her study of the human form through her fine art training, provides her with the ability to see and correct improper body alignment. Debbie's goal is to use art as well as Hung Ga kung fu to heal others in some special way to make their lives a little easier. Debbie also teaches a special Kung Fu Fitness for Women class at the Clifton Branch stressing fitness, strength and self-defense, open to all women. |
