My media include drawing, painting and collage. My subjects includes landscapes, streetscapes, portraits and still lifes. I often work from direct observation en plein air. For other projects I work more from imagination or photo references.
As a drawing instructor, I have tried to become conversant in a wide range of techniques. These include metalpoint, charcoal graphite, ink and natural red chalk.
My themes include African history and culture. I have travelled to the Caribbean and West Africa, drawing and painting en plein air. I completed my MFA with a historical painting and lithography project "African-led Slave Rebellions in the United States, Haiti and Jamaica."
