Artist Statement:
I relish colors, music and life. As the Gilgamesh-epic states "Don't add to the lament" so is my art defined.
My field of activity as a painter is to recreate feelings on canvas while leaving the business of exact definition of the world to scientific study. I see life as colorful and not gray. I follow my internal rules of proportion and color, leaving minimalization and elimination concepts behind. Thus the inner music can come forth with no restriction.
I started with realistic paintings, then began to develop abstract scrawlings coming to mind automatically. All begins with one decisive line whether I am using pens, watercolor, oils or acrylic paints. The quiet stillness quickly moves to a harmoniously proportioned canvas leaving each side true to the other.
My challenge is to reflect what surrounds my soul and eye clearly and concisely for all. If the viewer feels the emotion I have set forth, the work is a success. ...

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
Wolfgang Konrad Schweizer fostered his interest in sculpting and painting from an early age. Using the elements of proportion and balance, Wolfgang further advanced upon his oil painting techniques during his chemistry study at the University of Freiburg in Germany.
Over the years he began painting in acrylics and watercolors with pens, and developed his own abstract style. His technique became a cumulative effect of constant research, visiting numerous art galleries in Europe and the USA and studying the work of the old masters closely.
In November 2007, Wolfgang moved to the United States. He is a member of Organization for Independent Artists of New York, and the Ridgefield Guild of Artists.
