| Your Personal Biography |
Zoltan Janvary began his art and teaching career in the ancient Hungarian city of Budapest. In 1995, he relocated to the US, settling in Reno, Nevada.
He is greatly influenced by his family’s rich history as well as his country’s literary and mythological traditions. These forces, blended with those of the new world, have created an individual, original style.
He is of a generation that contributed several talented painters, sculptors and graphic artist to Hungarian contemporary art. During his classical training at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, he won many National and International scholarships and prizes, allowing him extensive study and travel abroad. In 1991, he received his M.F.A. and became not just an art professor but a well known artist himself, as a painter and printmaker. He currently teaches at the University of Nevada, Reno and the Truckee Meadows Community College as a drawing and painting Instructor. His works are currently on display in many American and International public and private collections, including most recently the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung, Taiwan; The Carbunari Florean Museum, Baia Mare, Romania; and the Boston Printmakers’ Collection.
