Artwork Description:

Please note that this etching is shipped and sold to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price includes packaging and handling, but shipment costs are added. Shipment not included in price. This was the first print in my CINEMA series dedicated to single frame shots from classic films this edition being the SECOND of FOUR with only eight prints per edition the second and fourth editions are printed on BLACK paper. The work is adapted from the film, NOSFERATU, whose original title was, Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens. This black and white silent German film, shot in 1921, had its European release in 1922. The amazing expressionist film deals with the theme of vampirism and was directed by F. W. Murnau. Max Schreck played Count Orlok, the vampire. The movie was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stokers Dracula, with names and other details changed because the studio could not obtain the novel rights. The actual image size the size of the zinc printing plate I used is fourteen inches wide 35.5 cm by eleven inches high 28 cm. The print size is eighteen inches wide by fifteen inches high, 45.7cm x 38cm. This etching incorporates the INTAGLIO technique. I used metallic, oil based Etching Ink from France and printed on STONEHENGE black printmaking paper manufactured in Great Britain. There are only eight prints in this SECOND edition each edition is only eight prints per run. I printed this work manually in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on a starwheel press at The Center for Works on Paper, 705 Christian Street, which is a part of The Fleisher Art Memorial under the governance of The Philadelphia Museum of Art.
