Artwork Description:

Tim carved this stone monument to Hope from a single sandstone block at Long Bay prison, Sydney. He stained the lower part to create a two-tone effect. The figure represents the heroism of a prisoner struggling to free himself from (the block of) adversity. The lower part has faces of anguish carved into it. This sculpture is the center or focal point tying the 4 surrounding murals together as a unified peice.
