Artists Describing Their Art:
Mario Ortiz Martinez - The main distinction of an artist is, or should be, insanity or, at least, the tendency to think and do absurd, showy, original and little comprehensible things for the common man. In particular, what attracts me the most is sharing my work, to the point of asking for very low prices. simple peanuts sometimes or flatly give it to those who appreciate it. Try me. This site requires a price standard. Very understandable and logical. But I would never refuse a reasonable offer. Just thinking about continuing, about having a penny to buy more colors and keep producing. Even when my works consist of a simple paper and in a small format, I always want to show my commitment to people, in order to brighten up a small corner of the house and invite reflection on the beautiful, the harmonious, the good vibes of the world. Some of these works have served as a study for large-format painting, but I have to honestly say that the study always looks better than the enlarged copy. In art, the first impulse, the first pictorial phrase, the first flash of inspiration, the first painted word that comes from the heart, is the ...
Lucille Rella - Color, I can't imagine life without it. We are surrounded by it. Our attention is drawn to it and it creates a variety of moods in our environment. It motivates me to paint. A spectrum of lights and darks, high colors and muted tones get me involved in a painting. The wonderful transparency and spontaneity of the watercolor medium, helps me to utilize these qualities in expressing my art work. ...
Paul Freeman - I am an artist working in ceramic and metal on a small scale of size. The works are lyrical and convey an interest in the benevolent character of human beings. The morality of the represented people conveys a feeling of pleasant engagement. I am inspired by people's everyday interactions, the good attitude that keeps society running. There is nothing that people of goodwill cannot resolve. I also paint and do computer art and have a degree in Master of Studio Art from Sydney College of the Arts (University of Sydney)....
Herbert Bennett - When works are presented without sharing their deeper mysteries and secrets, they seem to get lost. The digital images I produce are a process of what I call distilling complex images and color patterns from totally chaotic,'abstract' mono-printed acrylic paintings. Going into the'subconscious image potential' of a subatomic, much deeper image realm lies a world that defies but still complements the conscious ART-iculation of our binary brain's limited potential. Mathematical and scientific principles abound here and are brought to the surface to create the expressions we call ART. The A-ability to R-restructure T-truth. New truths(paradigms) are then created from chaos to new realities for us to be inspired(in-the-spirit)and to be enjoyed. Herb...
Dolores Poacelli - My general artist statement begins by saying that "Relationships are never easy . . . especially those between color, shape, texture space and tension." No matter what materials I choose to use these relationships always apply. The works in metal are created using aluminum printing press plates that I sand, cut and adhere to wood panels. Basically this series is about energy - creative, biological, emotional and sexual. They are abstract pieces with emotionalized titles such as "Adult Swim" and "Herd Mentality", in an effort to help the viewer "see" the work through metaphor and satire. Many of these pieces are almost interactive - as the viewer walks across the room the play of light changes on the aluminum fragments. More work can be seen on my site: www.poacellifineart.com D.
