  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Linda Paul - Artists Statement" When asked 'What is your favorite painting', I always say, 'the next one I am going to paint!" Style: I don't paint in any one style, I let inspiration speak to me and I go with the flow. My work runs the gamut from chunky realism to abstract and impressionist painting. I use many different mediums to create my artworks. One of my favorites is egg tempera which I make by crushing stones and minerals and adding egg yolk. Blues come from crushed lapis lazuli, greens from malachite and natural green earth found around Verona Italy. I even use minerals found during hikes in the Rocky Mountains. I am captivated not only by the purity and naturalness of this medium, but by the science of it. Each pigment has its own set of properties and capabilities that must be explored. How better to express visions of the earth than with earth itself. This medium is luminous and lasts for centuries. also make my own acrylic paint in the same manner. By adding pure pigment to a acrylic polymer. I can add thing like crushed mica and pearlescents to make the painting come alive. Lately I have also ...

Annette Broy - I strive to create portraits that are a reflection of the subject's grace and complexity. Through the medium of oil paints, I brush a page of their life story on canvas. My desire is to convey more than just a physical likeness but to capture the true essence of unique individuals spirit...Annette Broy ...

Paul Ygartua - THERE IS AN ENERGY, A HIGH WHEN CREATING When you are influenced by everything around you, whether it isaEUR" the people in the world, their culture or nature itselfaEUR"it is emotional and personal. It is these emotions that one tries to aEUR"expressaEUR"an inside view of your thoughts, your feelings and your aEUR"ideas.aEUR" The next painting will be the best. It has been an ongoing struggle for perfection aEUR" being able to break through mental and physical barriers, pushing the envelope to realizing and developing that vision until ultimately a style is born. Then taking that style and working it until it cannot be developed further and only then moving on to adapt this to new ideas, taking you on a journey of versatility and determination to the next painting. I am always looking to improve on each work so as to fine tune my coordination between body, mind and spirit with emphasis on reaching the point whereby my hands almost are moving without consciously guiding them. Speed is an integral part of the process as it forces one to not dwell on exactitude rather it forces a continuous flow of inspiration and passion. My concept of painting is the ...

Alain Nicolet - Alain Nicolet was born in 1951. He works on painting since 1977 and had a lot of exhibitions in France Switzerland, USA, etc. His work is like a long way to understand what painting, life, time or memory could mean. This painting asks questions, doesn't show final answers and try to find a way to ask more and more, and better...... Robert Pelles - As an award-winning practitioner of Hungarian commercial graphic art (a career he forsake after 20 years of owning his own successful design firm in order to commit himself solely to painting), Pelles understands and delights in using the idiom of abstract forms. His paintings tell stories about people. Even his houses-- memory scraps on Robert's' never-land landscapes -- come to vividly throbbing life in the absence of figurative forms. The conceptual quality of Pelles' art, his superior drawing skills, concordant use of color and structural harmony have made him one of the most sought-after Central European artists today. ...

Sven Froekjaer Jensen - To build a bridge between different worlds of expression, to span the abyss between the diversity of human minds, to reach out for the sublime, that is my challenge. Therefore I have to maneuver in a battlefield between old techniques and the new expressions of our time. That means to work in two directions all the time, one way from the old masters of the 19th century especially the drawing skills of the so called Copenhagen school with a very profound technical base, and the other way a freedom of expression, that is the only highway to the description of our time and the dreams and goals of present life. One could express it in another way saying, that I make modern myths in my fabulating paintings. But on the other hand the technical skills acquired from the drawing exercises are a necessity for getting the freedom that makes the fabulations possible. By creating the nonverbal myths on my canvasses I hope to reach the onlooker in a way that brings our minds together so we can walk the paths of understanding - dreaming the very old dreams of humanity. Therefore I work very intensely with drawings of the human and...

Pramod Apet - My name is Pramod Apet and I believe myself to be a very expressive person. I realized it very early in my life that painting was something that made me happy. It was actually me and therefore wen I decided to take painting as a career, I joined Abhinavkala Mahavidyala in Pune which is where I learnt the basics of my profession. After that I joined the very well known J. J. School of Arts in Mumbai, where I was groomed and that was the time when I transformed into an Artist. I love to spread happiness with my paintings and believe that if we set a happy atmosphere around us, it can be done through beautiful paintings. In my works, one can generally find jolly, loving and happy kids. Specially, the Brahmin boys that were seen during the traditional educational system of our Indian people, i.e., Gurukul system, could be generally seen through my works. I have relied on using acrylic colors in my art forms which help me in depicting the various expressions of my subjects very effectively. With the help of these, I have been able to show the kids in various acts of life, showing ...
