Michael Weston - I am a self-taught artist who began painting in 1983, although there were aborted attempts in earlier years(the 1970's). But not until 1983 did I try putting the ideas in my head down in paint and other media, than in writing. All I see are faces and figures in everything. I listened to da Vinci and his statement on studying stains. There is this between us. And lines fluid, broken, jagged and scratched covering everything. I attempt to translate that which is before me. I'm not even sure this is how I see it. It is about the silence....

John Tierney - The paintings I make are charts of wanderings; what I mean by that is: you can wander around a painting and have, at least sometimes, a feeling of recognition of the place where you are. But the place can shift into a new location, you lose your bearings and then find yourself by intuition. You don't know how you got there, but you know where you are. There are well-beaten tracks and waymarkings that appear familiar. When I set off on a new canvas, white, pristine, in the morning, I often think why should I want to mess this up? My search centres on gardens--as near as our own backyard and as far away as other continents or the imaginary garden in our consciousness. It has been stated that each garden reflects our longing for spiritual peace--a tie with our primeordal beginnings. It is in the beauty of nature where I find this spiritual peace from a homemade garden to a formal garden, from a tree to the vastness of Grand Canyon, from a rocky coast line to the calmness of a man made pond. Sallyann Mickel - SallyAnn Mickel has an artistic style which expresses her deep love of nature and animals and the joy she experiences while creating her artwork. After years of rendering nature subjects in an exact, realistic manner, Mickel has realized her own emotional response to the natural world. Her portraits and landscapes are done in an impressionistic style using a limited palette, thick, rich oil paint or pastels, and a simplified vision. Currently, Mickel is exploring the combined mediums of collage and pastel. A concern for the environment and wildlife are underlying theme's in Mickel's artwork; artwork that is continually evolving. SallyAnn received her basic art training from Towson State College in Baltimore, Maryland and various courses and workshops offered in the Maryland area. Her inspiration comes from nature and animals. Sallyann Mickel - Joy Livingston - The inclination to make art came to me at an early age growing up in Omaha, Nebraska; and I went on to earn a B.S. in Art Education, and a M.F.A. in Painting. I was determined to teach art at any level, and ended up with Middle School in Inverness, Florida. Albert Pinkham Ryder's paintings are a great inspiration to me, along with other Romanticists; Ralph Albert Blakelock, J.M.W. Turner, Albert Bierstadt, and William Blake. Katalin Luczay - Painting to me is an expression, interpretation, and appreciation of the world around me. In my opinion any art should inspire and elevate the human spirit. These types of art works are immortal, such as the works of the old masters. In my paintings I strive to achieve these ideals. I would describe my works as related as representational realism. In my seascapes I bring many different colors together to illustrate the movement of water. In my landscapes and still life works I like to emphasize the play of light as it hits a focal point. I like to paint in oil because I can achieve this sense of light and motion by glazing over layers, as well as in oil I can achieve a richness that I find limiting in other mediums.
