  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Jacqueline Weegels - My whole life I have created art somehow, as do most people one way or another. I grew up with a father who enjoyed painting large theater back drops and making larger than life papermache float creations. Although, I felt inspired by this, it somehow intimidated me and made me want to work small. Now, having raised two children, and influenced and been influenced by them and THEIR art, my work has become ever more eclectic and varied. I am ready for a new phase in my art as, like everyone else, continue to conquer new challenges in life, stay healthy and seek balance. ...

Henry Woody Lindenmeyr - Woodys oil paintings have a refreshing take on landscape painting. Strong, bold, colorful, harmonizing strokes accurately recapitulate his subject in a fantastic manner. It is clear Woody not only has a passion for painting and the mountains, but a deep understanding of them as well. Only with this relationship is the artist able to interpret his subject with such depth and candor. Additionally, Lindenmeyr finds intriguing perspectives that are supported by sturdy composition, and a bold palette. These painterly qualities coalesce on the canvas to create a unique, contemporary work of art. Woody has earned a Fine Arts degree and has managed an art gallery. He has had several shows including a one man exhibit last January. His work hangs in private collections throughout the United States and Australia. Mr. Lindenmeyr resides in Crested Butte, CO with his wife amidst the Rocky Mountains....

Eduardo Diaz - Statement My name is Eduardo DIaz and Iim a Mexican artist residing in the Bay Area since 2001. In my work I express different elements of Mexican culture, while emphasizing its Native American heritage. I incorporate native themes and images, both extant and prehispanic, into my works and combine them with personal feelings, experiences or fears. Although cultural elements are the essence of my art, through them I also like to express political and social opinions. As a Mexican, I feel in touch with the problems at the Mexican-American border, as well as with the issues facing Mexican immigrants. I also like to express the tension between the indigenous and the industrialized worlds, and to analyze the different elements that make up Mexican identity, especially when confronted with life in a different country. My favorite medium is oil painting. I use vivid and deep colors, with which I reflect the light of the Mexican sun. Some of my compositions are figurative, and oscillate between realistic scenes and more elaborated images, with affinity to surrealism. My most recent productions are less figurative and combine the same vivid colors into expressive abstract constructions. Biography My name is Eduardo D...

Deborah Leyva - Reflections "In search of the muse" These paintings have emerged from a deep sense of compassion and the desire to create. They helped me in my search for meaning. May they shed a small ray of light on you as well. *** Associations Member, Texas Fine Arts Association Women's Caucus for Art Women in the Visual and Literary Arts *** www.absolutearts.com/portfolios/d/dleyva

Marina Toshich - Marina Toshich Born in Sarajevo, lives in Tel Aviv -Isreal. Graduated from "Jan Mateiko" Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, Poland. Has her artworks at numerous private collections, as well as in Haifa Museum of Modern Arts, Israeli Museum in Jerusalemand the collection of Faber-Castell in Germany. ...

Leonard Parker - Dr. Leonard W. Parker's artistic style lends realism to his landscapes and seascapes by viewing both from a distance or up close! As a university professor, he has grasped the techniques of oil painting from his own personal research and study. His works have been displayed locally, but his desire is to gain wider notariety. Parker has adopted the phrase "'Scapes in oil" to tell both buyers and sellers that his greatest love is representing as real as possible God's wonderful world in which we live! One would desire to display his landscapes and seascapes in a variety of settings. Dr. Parker also has had commissioned art from photographs. Buyers of his artwork have come to cherish their original oil painting on canvas as heirlooms. ...

James Parker - Painting, drawing, and to a lesser degree, photography, have been the driving creative force in my life for the past two years. The changing circumstances of life have allowed this to happen, and for this I am quite grateful. Pin and ink, liquid watercolors, acrylics, and the mixing of mediums are used for these works. My art is somewhere between reality and fantasy, with perhaps a unique style (as all are) which is slowly maturing. Much of my work I try to make light, colorful and fun, and even somewhat premitive with a touch of fantasy. Rustic little cabin scenes, and most seascapes perhaps show this best. Landscapes--mountains, trees, ocean and beach scenes, these are my favorite subjects. I prefer to work quite small. Most paintings and drawings come with wooden 11"X14" frames and hand selected colored mattes. These smaller sized works I have found to be excellent for creating pictures that are both colorful enough and detailed enough to carry an "impact". A few fine art's photographs taken back in the late eighties, some of which were published by a national calendar company in 1989 and 90 are also offered here. Those hundreds of hours looking ...

Gudrun Ploetz - My paintings are all "wanted" paintings. That's a base thing I believe in. I think paintings and art in general is good if the artist wanted it and it came from his inside. Some artist "want" to do arts when they are down, some other paint when they feel well. I belong to the last ones. My paintings show the times my soul felt good. I can't paint when I'm down. Then I need music. But the more paintings I do in my good times, the longer I feel good. A good feeling, people I meet who touch my soul, warm words and good talks can inspire me a lot. And I want to transfer those, my good feelings to other people. Art is kind of healing, art can give you the power for the next step into the hard daily life process. That's why artists are necessary in this world, to make people happy, to give their eyes and their souls a gentle touch, to inspire them to try it themselves, to come in contact with paint and drawing pen. My paintings are all around colour, the first thing I notice myself at a painting ...

Shaukat Mulla - i percive a patntig in terms of a poem.a poem presents the total picture of harmony.a poem-picture you read every line saperatly, but the meaning remains one with one another a painting like a poem ought to be a picture harmony--a harmony between the forms, space colours, lines texture and visual experience .the abstract content of painting my quest is for rediscovery of lost harmony a grammer of colours which effectively illuminates my attitude to everyday life my skill comes from everyday events, vibrant or tender brush stokes emerge straight from the heart, everything around is a source of inspiration....

Ashley Hancock - "Painting is just another way of keeping a diary," said Pablo Picasso. The canvas is my journal in which I paint my thoughts on life and my environment, ideas, emotions, and observation of others and myself. I am not interested in recreating what the human eye can see just by "looking." I strive to bring forth both my subconscious and conscious emotions and my perceptions in a visual form, primarily through oil painting. ...

Dorothy Nuckolls - I am a self taught artist. I have been painting for about 30 years. My love of art began as a child. The awesome beauty of nature and the magic of color always intrigued me. To reproduce God's art; wheather it be outdoor sences, or portairts; has always been a goal for me. I started doing portairts in 2002 and realize that, that was what I really loved to do.Now I specialize mostly in portairts. I hope you enjoy my collection as much as I enjoyed painting it. Dorothy Nuckolls...

Suzanne Gegna - I AM INTERESTED IN THE WORLD WITHIN AND THE PASSAGEWAY FROM INNER TO OUTER AS WELL AS OUTER TO INNER. I LOVE THE USE OF COLOR AND FORM IN ABSTRACT ART AND IT FREES ME AND I HOPE THE VIEWER TO FIND A PERSONAL CONNECTION WITH THE FINISHED ARTWORK. I ALSO USE WHIMSY TO CONVEY A CONCEPT AND HOPE TO REMIND THE OBSERVER THAT WHAT WE SEE IN THE MOST LITERAL SENSE IS PERHAPS NOT ALL THAT IS REAL. OFTEN I BELIEVE SIMPLICITY IS THE BEST WAY TO EXPRESS COMPLEXITY.... ...
