Artists Describing Their Art:
Michael Weston - I am a self-taught artist who began painting in 1983, although there were aborted attempts in earlier years(the 1970's). But not until 1983 did I try putting the ideas in my head down in paint and other media, than in writing. All I see are faces and figures in everything. I listened to da Vinci and his statement on studying stains. There is this between us. And lines fluid, broken, jagged and scratched covering everything. I attempt to translate that which is before me. I'm not even sure this is how I see it. It is about the silence....
Donny Marincic - Donny Marincic is an artist who expresses his love for the West and its lore through his art work. Marincic captures the essence of the pure bodied, hearty, and good natured people that he portrays in his pieces. One gains a true comprehension for the daily activities of its people, which makes the West come alive. His paintings and bronzes let ones mind roam freely throughout the piece, leaving you with the feeling of being there. ...
Claudette Losier - Artistic Statement - Claudette Losier (LosiersArt) "Where Beauty Lies " "The artist knows that even though he has created something beautiful, it can be destroyed. His real and innermost satisfaction is not in the object, but in the subject; that thing within him that penetrates the mystic splendor of Beauty itself." (Ernest Holmes pg 39) One of my bodies of work explores the concept of Paradise as something sought after by modern society. My search centres on gardens--as near as our own backyard and as far away as other continents or the imaginary garden in our consciousness. It has been stated that each garden reflects our longing for spiritual peace--a tie with our primeordal beginnings. It is in the beauty of nature where I find this spiritual peace from a homemade garden to a formal garden, from a tree to the vastness of Grand Canyon, from a rocky coast line to the calmness of a man made pond. In Dr. Wayne Dyer's book "Power of Intention" he quotes from Emily Dickson and John Keats(pg 51): "Beauty is not caused. It is " As you awaken to your divine nature, you'll begin to appreciate beauty in everything you see, ...
Mark Schwing - Ideally the artist is employed by society at large. The artist helps define culture and culture makes us who we are in whatever time and place we are at. Of course most of us are not living in caves anymore but even then art helped society function; helped the hunter hunt, showed people what to do. Art is still showing people what to do in a way. Whether it is raising awareness by showing what is going on, teaching by example or simply exploring ideas that give people ideas. My art is about ideas as much as anything else but it is a surrealistic and intuitive approach. So what is presented isn't a literal interpretation, it is more like exploring the idea with art. It is really another reality. It mirrors our reality and/or it is influenced by our reality. I can't help but be affected by what is going on around me and I am interested in the transcendental as well. Please visit my website, www.markschwing1.com, for more images....
Henry Woody Lindenmeyr - Woodys oil paintings have a refreshing take on landscape painting. Strong, bold, colorful, harmonizing strokes accurately recapitulate his subject in a fantastic manner. It is clear Woody not only has a passion for painting and the mountains, but a deep understanding of them as well. Only with this relationship is the artist able to interpret his subject with such depth and candor. Additionally, Lindenmeyr finds intriguing perspectives that are supported by sturdy composition, and a bold palette. These painterly qualities coalesce on the canvas to create a unique, contemporary work of art. Woody has earned a Fine Arts degree and has managed an art gallery. He has had several shows including a one man exhibit last January. His work hangs in private collections throughout the United States and Australia. Mr. Lindenmeyr resides in Crested Butte, CO with his wife amidst the Rocky Mountains....
Lynne Friedman - Friedman seeks the dramatic and poetic grandeur of nature in paintings inspired by the Hudson Valley and such varied terrains such as the Arizona desert, coast of Cornwall, England and the High Sierras. Her process incorporates exacting essence from a location by seeking to explore its emotive properties, personal responses and exploring the formal concerns of light, color, and the tactility of paint....
Katalin Luczay - Painting to me is an expression, interpretation, and appreciation of the world around me. In my opinion any art should inspire and elevate the human spirit. These types of art works are immortal, such as the works of the old masters. In my paintings I strive to achieve these ideals. I would describe my works as related as representational realism. In my seascapes I bring many different colors together to illustrate the movement of water. In my landscapes and still life works I like to emphasize the play of light as it hits a focal point. I like to paint in oil because I can achieve this sense of light and motion by glazing over layers, as well as in oil I can achieve a richness that I find limiting in other mediums. Jerry Maloney - Contemporary artist Jerry Maloney, uses a realistic style that falls somewhere between Impressionism and Photo-realism which creates soothing yet vibrant images that are reminiscent of the Luminists school of painting.I have always been inspired by the beauty of light in nature. Painters such as Bierstadt, Church, and Inness have always been major influences in my art along with many of the Impressionists states the talented artist. These influences are readily apparent in the beautiful oil paintings of Florida Colorado and landscapes that fill the walls of his Spring Hill studio.
