  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Jan Chlpka - Jan Chlpka - naive imaginism The painter from Hlozany (Vojvodina, Serbia) Jan Chlpka (1965) belongs to our best and most original painters of naive art today. To poetics of inset imaginism tied him his increased imagination. As a result such an orientation we can find a reduced space of painting without any unnecessary details and expressed expressive stylization of shapes. He also uses colors in accordance with inter and not mimetic meaning. The most frequent themes of his painting creation are animals, which is natural while his occupation is veterinary surgeon. Here we can notice other rare component of painter's creation - humor. Vladimir Valentik, art historian...

Goran Petmil - For as long as remember I've been working on the art that makes up my world, a detailed rethinking of the stored hot inspiration within me. In 2005 I had partially withdrawn from the gallery exhibition spaces forming an opening only in his studio in Southampton. I work my art slowly, taking my time and leaving my pieces to take shape and breathe in the depths of my studio, working on my them for months I come back to them from time to time. I do not live by images, but I live for the art, I do a process of researching materials and textures, with each new layer of paint I'm opening up my own spiritual quest. Destruction, properties that disappear and matter are the primary goal and reason for my creativity, it launches my energy and ignites my spirit to star a feast of many layers, texture and color, it all comes to surface in the art. I find a rays of hope and truth in the landscapes that men ruthlessly destroys all more and more. Large formats are a great part of my excitement, many size paintings, from realistic, to abstract, and sculptures are a ...

Jacquie Vaux - My goal as an artist, is to present a beautiful veiw of wildlife in the form of fine art paintings.I strive to show the vivid colors and patterns in the most appealing compositions. I also demonstrate natural behavior and some element of habitat that most beautifully presents this subject manner in the most visually exciting format. I respect and appreciate the wildlife I depict in my paintings. I study and work on improving my technical expertise. This is a never ending process which I address on a daily basis. I have a strong work ethic which allows me to stay focused in order to complete large complex works. I look forward to painting larger paintings of big animals such as elephants, giraffes and cape buffaloes. I am also eager to paint more botanical and floral paintings. ...

Bé Van Der Heide - Artist Statement I do work mostly in series. The images shown in my portfolio are examples of different series all executed over the last ten years. Some of the latest series such as "Dance of the transient forms" and "Collapse" have recently been exhibited in the Mas Poch Gallery in Spain. The most extensive series is called the "ENFANT TERRIBLE" series. These are drawings and paintings, mostly of a little girl and her family and friends. The rather menacing images of a seemingly helpless frightened little girl, being held tight or prettied up with bows in her hair, are inspired by photographs in my family album. In these drawings I am not interested in a photographic likeness, but I try to express a feeling about these people in the pictures. Part of the series were shown in the LCP Gallery in London during summer 2002 and in the Mas Poch Gallery in Spain November 2003. The series before "Enfant Terrible" is called: "WEBS", inspired by the sight of insects, leaves, dried up larvae; all caught in a Spiders web underneath a box on top of one of my work tables in the studio. They have been considerably enlarged; some paintings...

Kevin Wakefield - I love the drama of staged lighting to create extraordinary depth, contrast and exciting, bold, value and color changes. Revieling the third dimension with strong visual communication. Painting subject matter that may convey sensuality, to spark arousal, change tention to serenity, or envoke art appreciation, aesthetics, create a multisensory connection to viewers and expanded vision are goals l am to achieve....

Daniela Isache - Expressionism is my way to show the world as I see it. Since I was young, I looked at the world differently from my friends. I saw a strange world, wondering why the other people did not see it like me. The world I saw was unjust and made of unhappiness. Looking profoundly at the people's faces, I found them very expressive and I was stroked by their strange traits. I have never seen beautiful or ugly faces but only very expressive ones. Then, I began to paint these faces and I met my future love - Expressionism. At that time, I discovered and understood that the expressionist painting could express the life as I see it. I applied my Expressionism without making any concession to the beautiful or decorative painting. I applied it with force and sometimes with despair. However, when finishing a painting I felt released. I felt as if all my pain and troubles came out of my life. The dramatic motifs I found in everyday life created insurmountable interrogations and tensions. I became calm, but when I looked at my painting, I saw there fear, sorrow and I understood that my Expressionism saved me. Some people ...

Laurie Vaughn - Primarily, my inspiration is derivitive of the New York School art movement genre of abstract expressionism. Additionally, I incorporate expressionist painting influences, derived from the CoBrA art, German Expressionism, in creating my personal brand, of representational, expressionist painting. Taking formal techniques from the CoBrA and New York School art movement, I blend subliminal nuances emanating from sources of inspiration, that are as diverse as Japanese calligraphy to the tribal art, of the Dogon. Utilizing a layering of abstract expressionist painting applications, I reference the oevres of expressionist artists that includes: Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell, Willem deKooning, Hans Hofmann, Robert Motherwell, and lesser known, abstract expressionism art movement painters. Representational techniques have been strongly influenced by the bold, vibrant, and colorful expressionist painting genre of significant CoBrA art movement icons, including: Cornielle, Karel Appel, Rooskens, Eugene Brands, Lucebert and Asger Jorn.I prefer to work in mixed media, incorporating gesso, tempera, acrylic, enamel and oil on canvas. My goal is to create individual series, dominated by influences from a combination of artists, overlaid with my personal interpretation or social commentary on events that effect us all....

Durlabh Singh - Sice R.Mutt's urinal, visual art in the western world has suffered a shock & a decline. It has become mere conceptual & has gone back to literary traditions of making statements.Abstraction has become a puritan's attitude of non-depiction of human body in a dignified form.My art is a sort of revolt against this kind of pseudo-intellectualism. My art takes account of both biological & metaphysical aspect of human body.It is a breakthrough to new levels of reality creating significant forms necessary for development of human spirit. I welcome any suggestions or comments regarding my work. If anyone is interested in buying please contact me.Main aim of my art has never been financial gains. I have exhibited all over the world including India, Kenya, Helsinki, Paris, London & New york etc.My work is in private & public collections incliding Ministry Of DefenceLondon & Horniman Museum London....

Lynne Taetzsch - When I paint I am standing in the desert alone, facing the vast horizon, the pale gradations of sand, sand-colored rock, sand-colored plants, sand-colored sky. There is nowhere to look for relief. I work on a canvas in layers over days or weeks. The painting's past affects its present, leaving traces and influences that subtly or dramatically guide what happens next. Acrylic is the perfect medium for me because it dries fast. I work quickly while the paint is wet, covering the whole canvas. The next day I rework it. When I go to the blank canvas it is upright on an easel. Loud music plays in the background. I dig deep for the anger, the melancholy, the inexplicable energy and exhaustion of daily life, to express it in a large gesture. Audacious color. Reckless line. I struggle with the canvas, building it up and breaking it down. Very often a hideous accident occurs: the paint does not flow evenly from the tube; colors clash in careless abandon; irregular drips and splotches dot the surface. My eye is offended by what it sees. My passion is to tease this ugliness, this unlikely blend of colors and ...

Lynne Taetzsch - Corinne Medina-Saludo - Corinne Medina-Saludo: Creating a Figurative Kinestesic Art The basis of the art of this french contemporary painteri?1/2s research is the " body-mind", or better said, "body lenguage": the painter using her inside physical and emotionnal feelings, as a medium, and also, intention of her art. In her painting act, a mental representation of the body is, at least, coming into the canvas, as a plastic element of of "painted sintaxis" She is a member of Taylor's Fundation of Paris, since 2006, and represented by Drouot-Cotation since 2000. She recently exhibited some featured works, as "Resurrection" in the Miami Museum of the Americas", ( 2010 july, International ART Exhibition). ...

Kyle Johnston - i have been utilizing mixed media collage as format for the last twenty years. theme and subject are generally allowed to develop themselves as works progress. rarely do i pursue a work limited to a specific idea other than structure and material usage. collage as medium allows me to set moods and feeling within each work and develop subject independently of that point.the conveyance of subject as well as a formulation of emotion and spirit is a priority to me in my work.i feel my overall technique is basic and my goal is to create works that are of interest artistically and compelling in nature....

Sanjay Verma - My Present Work displaying " Colours of life" in acrylic colours on canvas exemplifies thematic endeavours showing nuances of daily life in urban metropolitan cities highlighting hustle and bustle, chaos, the dynamic actions of different characters involved etc. My colors show deep contact and relevance to the soil of Rajasthan and hence possess that intimacy. I have displayed different facets of my creative instincts for the rickshaw pullers by narrating childhood memories, struggle for daily existence through turmoil and hardships, dignity of labor, hope for a better tomorrow etc. in my own style. My obsession with urbanization and mechanized as well as fast life in metropolitan cities like Bombay, Calcutta, New Delhi etc. has been clearly depicted in my work marked by interrelation and useful interplays of human sentiments highlighting the dignity of labour. My thematic concept of daily metropolitan fast life highlighting dynamism of pace and loss of personal life and ties, sentimentalism showing the various emotions like joy, excitement, anxiety, etc. is outstanding. Main work being in the "Characteristic face of rikshaw puller earning his daily bread and butter through sentimental display of emotional feelings in his mind it demonstrates artistic imagery showing tonal harmony and equibillirium of color...

Johnny G - Born and raised in San Francisco, California, in the heart of the Haight-Ashbury, Johnny Garcia was influenced by his community and cultural revolution that was taking place. Free love and true expression. These teachings created the perfect foundation for living and exploring his artistic abilities open-heartedly. Johnny had always been interested in the arts as an onlooker, but it wasn't until the year 2000 that he became active in the arts by working as both a freelance photographer and as an assistant to an internationally-recognized artist who, at one point, suggested that Johnny try painting. By picking up the paintbrush and putting it to paper he reconnected to what he had experienced as an artistic child - a deep passion and joy in putting paint to papercanvas. Painting thus became a hobby for Johnny which has since grown into a fulfilling career. Combining Healer with Painter In 2007 - Johnny's gifts of being a medium, channel and healer opened up and he consciously began co-creating with the highest vibrations of Source Energies, interpreting his experience through different modalities such as painting, music, voice and writing. Each piece of artwork carries Universal Light force and complete unconditional ...
