Artists Describing Their Art:
Denise Dalzell - Painting. Illustration. Expressionism. Pop Art. Modern. Realism and, occasionally, a bit of Abstraction. My current work centers on my consideration of how we respond to each other, the stories that develop between us and around us, and how our collective stories reflect on and influence us individually. How our stories bounce off each other and combine to create new stories. My paintings are illustrations of the scenes that I encounter during my travels abroad and in daily life so, some scenes are more sweeping than others. How do we, as people of differing backgrounds, cultures, and experiences interact with each other Are we different people in a crowd than when alone How do we fit in or stand out where we find ourselves at any given moment, in any given story Stories are everywhere, and thereaEURtms no predicting what theyaEURtmll reveal. Body language, movement, color, contrast combine to illustrate my scenes of interaction between people and within environments. The excitement of being a part of something as unifying as a protest, the sense of adventure that comes from starting out with no particular destination, intimate moments with those we love and those we discover in the big events...

Tom Lund-Lack - I am an experienced artist whose work uses the power of imagination to find find the essence of the subject.A It is grounded in the need to celebrate life, and to portray the subject through the transforming power of colour and light. Arrangements of shape, line, pattern and colour are brilliant at conjuringA up powerful expressions, sometimes these can be dreamlike and at peace sometimes exciting and dramatic. My work does not always represent an actual moment, place or object in time, but they areA the result of a process of reflection, recollection and reinvention, a distillation of experience. Art is a very small word having the widest possible meaning appreciation is a subjective judgement and no artist or workA can please everyone.A My aim is to please at least some of you and I am very confident that this aspiration is achievable ...

Jean Claude - The French physicist, Joseph Nicephore Niepce, made the first negative on paper in 1816 and the first known photograph on metal that he called an heliograph in 1826. After 1826 there is no place for figurative art ! I am a french born self taught american artist with an eye open on the past (Nicolas de Stael) and the new South Western and South-American painters. For me painting is almost always ABSTRACT ! I create CHAOS and there after I organize the CHAOS ! Mixing the right colors in the right SPACE ! If I do something that looks figurative; it's caricature! Myself looking like Mussolini or the black Ava Gardner ! rests and inspires me... I have always been a ravenous reader in both French and English, and my bookshelves are filled with the works of Updike, Bellow, Henry Miller, Nabokov, Sade, Proust, Celine, Queneau, Boris Vian, among many others. Still a cinephile, I go to the films of Lang, Minnelli, Preminger, Delmer Daves, Godard, Truffaut time and time again. Music always fills my house, whether it be classical (Richard Strauss, Berg, Martinu, Janacek, Debussy), Jazz (Coltrane, Mingus, Miles Davis, The Art Ensemble of Chicago, Albert Ayler, Eric Dolphy), or ...
Monica Malbeck - I was born and raised in Romania, attending art school there. I graduated in 1974 from a highly successful art pilot program at age 18. Where I was offered exposure to all facets of art from visual communications to industrial design. This was followed by a successful career in fashion design with clients throughout Europe, U.S., and Japan. In 1990 I moved to the United States, and in 1996 I was introduced to digital media falling in love instantly with its versatility. I have been exploring digital design since then, trying to mix digital color and the illusions of texture and shape to capture fleeting, momentary thoughts and my feelings. My style varies depending on the subject being captured, as I always try to let the subject dictate the style rather than try to impose a repetitive style format. I have retired to Hawaii very early from a career as a fashion consultant, and decided to focus on art. My very first submission of my artwork to an international competition in Italy, was chosen among the finalists. I am a self-taught digital artist, and I like to explore a broad range of subjects. In my gallery you will...

Pamela Henry - I am a Photography Artist. My process crosses analog and digital borders. Initially my images are captured on film, slides or digitally. I use a range of techniques from cross-process development and polaroid manipulation to digital painting, collage and layering to create what you see here. If I were to condense my thoughts on photographic expression into a single phrase it would be "in the moment". The moment begins at first sight and is complete when I release the shutter, lift my stylo from the polaroid, or remove my hand from the mouse. I know I will relive that feeling each time I look at the image, like a song or a smell that transports you to another place and time. This photographic expression translates beyond verbal expression and rests in your being, invoking a subjective reaction based on your experiences. Herein lies a collection of such moments. ...

Oleg Khe - My path to art was not direct and planned. I got a journalism education and had a great career as an editor and publisher. It was only in adulthood that I realized that my real passion was art. I took a risk and now Im doing everything to realize my destiny. Every morning I wake up with the promise that today I will work to the limit of my abilities and capabilities. And every single day thats exactly what I do. In my art I try to understand the nature of women, to tell their stories. Each drawing is an episode in which I experience the feelings of the heroine, I go through her difficult path. Thats how my empathy manifests itself. More and more often I draw on secondary raw materials - old issues of newspapers and used office paper. I use what we usually throw in the trash. I want to say that old things can become a work of art. To some extent, I am the same old paper that dreams of its rebirth. ...
Billie Jean - Billie Jean (born in the 80's) is an italian artist and architect. His artistic field is deeply linked to pop culture, which inspired his pseudonym (quoting a famous song of 1983 by Michael Jackson). It's also related to Pop culture the frequent use of symbols and themes already entered in collective imagination. His works deal with various issues, which are inspired by political and social events, but also from the description of very personal moods. His work tries to be a personal synthesis between pop art and street art, since several works are expressly designed to be painted on urban walls. The main characteristic of the works of Billie Jean is the clean and bare style, usually just in black and white. Often lacking in details, his artworks reflect tragedies and discomforts of society through the simple sketch of the eyes. The expressive drama of his works is sometimes underlined by using absurd and twisted perspectives that drag the viewer into an "impossible" and sometimes "dreamlike" world. To get his stroke so essential, he uses the computer drawing, main technical characteristic of his paintings. His artistic influences lie in 80s Pop Art (J.M. Basquiat, Keith Haring) and ...
