Artists Describing Their Art:
Paul Gazda - These works are from my "Household Icons" series. In this series, I transform discarded household objects into art by mounting them on wire mesh and painting them with a variety of acrylic mediums. These works are fun, but at the same time draw attention to the things we take for granted in our daily lives. I also have a "Concept" and "Didactic" series. Please visit my web site to see the full spectrum of my work. ...
Daniel Wasinger - In my youth, I was always mesmerized by nature and the visual ironies with which it presented itself. There is nothing so pure and powerful as nature. The contradictions in its color palette, along with its subtle nuances, enhanced my senses and impressed me. It is those very impressions that have influenced my work. All of my art is original and influenced by nature and the human form. Whether I digitally manipulate my original photographs or begin with a brush and mix unconventional media to reinforce nature's contradictions, I always tend to focus on the irony of it all. That is nature's true character and I strive to capture it, hoping to heighten the viewer's senses. My expressionistic view helps me communicate my feelings and interpretations. By using deliberate, thick impasto oil techniques, the delicate stroke of watercolor and oil pastel, or the contradictory combination of resin and organic material, I seek to convey the true character of each work until it absorbs a life of its own. The relationships of the elements of nature are so intertwined and I am influenced by this simple complexity and raw beauty. I bring this quality into my work through ...
Linda Arthurs - I believe that my art should bring smiles to people's faces. When I was young I was highly political and everything I did had to have a message. During my life, my son Dennis was killed at 16 years old and my whole world changed. The pain was unbelieveable. I would not have made it except for the love that my son Conor gave me and gives me to this day. I decided that I only wanted to create beauty. I like to bring joy and colour into the world. I have travelled all over the world with my camera, and now I am a grandmother of two beautiful boys and am involved with people with developmental disabiliites helping them to become a part of their community and I do this through art. It is the most wonderful job I have had. ...
Marta Baricsa - I call myself a Directivist and I paint with deliberate intent. My paintings are primarily non-representational. They are inspired by energy, movement, sound or common things. I express this through large broad brushstrokes, washes of colour and layered drips of paint. I work mostly large scale; five by seven feet or larger. I often work in dark tones or bright colours. The paintings can be concrete or random in their composition, linear or sculptural in their presence. It is the contrast that I find most interesting. My paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Vancouver, Toronto and New York. They are included in public, corporate and private collections. I was born in London, England. I graduated from the Experimental Arts department at The Ontario College of Art ( Now called The Ontario College of Art & Design ) in Toronto, Ontario Canada. I am painting The Olympians. The Greek Gods -Apollo, Zeus and Poseidon and others. See www.martabaricsa.com for more images....
Adriano Nicot - Creating a work of art is, having traveled various roads through experimentation until reaching the culmination of an organic art form. Implementing abstract-figurative elements that emphasize textures and non-conventional forms. It is through experimentation and the search of new techniques that I imprint my work with imagery that reminds us of cave paintings. It is my eternal refusal of conventional ideas that brings me to discover richer alternatives that relate to our present environment....
Bridget Busutil - Bridget Busutil,google22976108fdd647b3.html Powered by View my page on Peacemaker Institute ARTIST STATEMENT. Art is a way of Life My life is about Art and reflects the multicultural diversity in which I was raised. I favour projects that mix Arts and multiculturalism and are interdisciplinary. I think that as an artist my world is not limited to an aesthetical dimension. Hopefully it goes beyond, through engaging a dialogue with the viewer that proposes discovery, criticism and reflection. Through my work I am offering the discovery of several worlds packed up in layers as in my encaustic, a sort of journey of self-discovery, as well as discovery of i?1/2the otheri?1/2 with the respect for cultural differences. The necessity is to succeed in viewing these differences as contributions to our own cultures and understand the wealth they have to offer. When I paint or teach students to draw a linei?1/2, I am aware of reaching out for a world without frontiers. Technically I wish to bridge the past to the present and show that there is a continuity in life experience that only artists are capable of showing. Keyword Optimizer ...
Lawrence Supino - Welcome! Now living in Florida, I am a New York born and raised artist. It is of my opinion that no matter how good an artist statement is, out of those who take the time to read one, very few will want to know more about me or buy my art because of it. That said...I do appreciate your interest. My desire to create is inherent, so why I paint and why the way I paint, has less to do with my formal training or a philosophy and more to do with an inner drive to live my life feeding and fulfilling this inherent desire. My most recent paintings are oil on canvas. Earlier work has been in oil or mixed media using acrylic, charcoal, pencil and pastel on canvas, linen or masonite. I am currently enjoying working on paintings which have a bit of realistic humor to them, in order to speak the universal language...a smile. Self experimentation, formal study of photo realist, classical and abstract artist impressed me to develop my style derived from both traditional and self realized techniques. The contrast between the perfection, discipline and exactitude demanded by photo realism and the spontaneity, freedom ...
Tyrone Neuland - My paintings follow very much in the long established tradition of the Expressionists, using intensity of color and gestural brushstrokes to portray the intensity of feeling and emotion. While also attempting to find a balance between art and today's technology, I am integrating digital imagery into my pieces, using them as a tool to enhance subject matter. These paintings/drawings are developed from personal and emotional feelings that are sparked by the day-to-day experiences of a father, husband, employee, son and general spectator of the modern world. They are not formed as judgement statements but constructed out of a reactionary consciousness to the particular subject matter. The plan is to portray that secret level of honesty that is often misinterpreted as cynicism, by taking a specific person, place or thing and turning it into a thought provoking generality in which the viewer can use their own lives to draw a conclusion....
Bernd Wachtmeister - Bernd Wachtmeister is one of those people who devote a great deal of time to analysing themselves in the context of their surroundings. Many of his feelings, impressions and thoughts find expression in his artistic work. They come to light, so to speak, through form and colour. For Wachtmeister, creating art is a statement of passion as well as purpose. It might not be immediately apparent when looking at his pictures that they have involved a high degree of effort on my part. It might also be possible that, at first sight, they seem somewhat immature, light-hearted, maybe even playfully naive. However, when reflecting on their meaning as expressed in their titles it will become evident that there is an ironic, critical depth to works that, on the face of it, may appear to be straightforward and friendly. While art is for Wachtmeister both a calling and a passion, he devotes himself professionally to visual communication. Since 1990, he has worked successfully as a freelance graphic designer, mainly in the areas of advertising/promotion, publishing and new media. Wachtmeister's special interest is the illustration as well as the design of signets (CI), posters, websites, packaging, brochures and ...

Tatana Kellner - Growing up in communist Czechoslovakia, as the daughter of Holocaust survivors, I learned to mistrust authority and question official doctrines. The current political landscape with the erosion of civil liberties, the misinformation fed to us by our leaders and the manipulation of facts by the media has motivated me to refocus my artistic concerns from exploring my personal history, albeit political, to taking a direct stance on contemporary politics. I use media, especially the newspaper, as my primary source material. The images and text fragments are processed in a way that parallels political maneuvering (deal making). My work is tactile. Layers of inky marks form the images. The inherent messiness references political corruption, loss of innocence, and encapsulates a specific moment in time. History defines us. History haunts us. ...
