Welcome to Chary Castro-Marin's Portfolio. First of all, I am a creator of illusions. Secondly, when I paint, I like to be sure I am expressing my feelings and reaching out to people at the same time. I love to create empathy and to communicate with my viewers. For me they are the key to my creative process. So I assume only those cannons which I think it will make my contact with people possible.
The conceptual tenet behind my pieces is seeing art as the vehicle “par excellence” to create illusions and to depict the appearances of things that pretend to be, but they are nonetheless, mere forms and colors.
My work, in one way or another, has always been influenced by the experiences I have had and the spaces I have lived, first in Cuba then in New York and later in Phoenix, Arizona. The time lived in the U.S. the acceptance of a new language and a new culture affected my life when I was young in profound ways.
