Artist Statement:
Tina grew up with a pad of
paper and pencil in her hand.
Drawing was her
favourite childhood past time.
She was given her first
camera at age 9 and the world
opened up for her with a
camera in her hands. She
loves taking photographs from
a perspective not often seen
or noticed; breathing life
into everyday things and
drawing the viewer into the
scene.
Painting with acrylics in an
abstract, expressionistic
style is her personal way of
expressing emotions oftentimes
too complicated or painful to
articulate. She is currently
experimenting with the subtle
intricacies of
watercolour and loving the
learning process of this
different type of art as well.
“Everyone feels something
different when they see my
work. The emotions they feel
are as unique as each person
is. We all have our secrets
inside. I add paint to mine
and put them on canvas.”
“Painting gives me a way to
expel all the colours,
thoughts and emotions
constantly colliding in my
mind. I primarily consider
colour when I start a new
painting. What colours am I
feeling at that moment? I
hope my work will ultimately
be placed where people stop
and stare for a while,
seeing...
