Artwork Description:
Halfway through coloring the line drawing and beginning to see shapes rising out of the void I was struck by the vision of the blue whale top center. I was remined of Dalis last great masterpiece, Tuna Fishing. The form above the whale transformed into a blade. You can see the blood. Several other animal shapes arose and the beating heart of all animals at the bottom. I thought of the proper title once the piece was completed. Pray for the Animals or Plea of the Animals sounded to hopeless to me. I chose Care for the Animals as it intones a command, a demand, an order, a revolutionary cry for justice and stewardship on the behalf of man. I hope we can go beyond the self-centered notion of man as a dominant species who is smarter than anyone else. So far, our species track record has not been that stellar. Care for the animals. Thanks,
