Artwork Description:

I started work on this sculpture at the beginning of the Spanish Covid-19 lockdown, in March 2020. I never expected that we d still be under restrictions 9 months later, when I finished it in December 2020. Based on a local Spanish model who posed in my studio, this sculpture has been cut, carved and sanded by hand, from a huge block of laminated timber. The painted areas have been primed and then given 5 coats of hand-applied gloss paint to create a deep and lustrous finish. In contrast the body and hair have been lightly stained, but left as a natural wood finish, to approximate a natural skin tone, whilst also enhancing the beauty and variety of the wood it is carved from. For this reason this sculpture is not suitable for display outdoors. As well as the signed, engraved and etched stainless-steel plaque inset into the base of this sculpture it is also supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Larger than life size, this sculpture stands 206cm tall, 6 feet, 9 inches. This lady is sure to be an imposing and beautiful addition to any home or art collection. Please note that due to the size and weight of this sculpture, 65 kg, 143 lbs , shipping is not included in the price, but secure, crated, shipping can be arranged, at cost, to any destination worldwide.
