Artists Describing Their Art:
Victoria Velozo - Artist Statement I create contemporary semi-abstracts. My style is quite unique as it combines two artistic styles. I have blended contemporary abstract oil painting with traditional realism watercolour. I delight in combining these genres as I love the softness of the watercolour in contrast to the vibrancy of the oil paint. I also enjoy the contrast of the Realism and Abstract movements. In this body of work I hope to encourage a connection to the environment. In their non-disturbed state grassy plains are magnificent, and vibrant parts of biological tapestry. Once covering vast tracts of the continentaEURtms plains. The grassland are now among the most vulnerable and endangered habitats due to urbanization. I express the rugged beauty by focusing on the birds and animals that live in this environment. I include birds such as Sparrows, Eagles, Parrots Crows and Ravens to bring energy, create interest and narrative. I would describe my own personal style as continuously creating tension in the artwork. I achieve this through the combined use of premediated realism and abstract improvisation, where the realism is used as a measure of my ability and the abstract work displays my artistic expression. I also create tension ...
Eli Gross - "Aspire to happiness, to calm a tempestuous soul, towards serenity "- that's the way Eli Gross articulates the nature of his art. In his youth he was a student of the famous artists Jacob (Yoyo) El Hanani and Gabi Ben Zano. Recently after half a century of a demanding carrier, Eli has finally realized his age old dream. He studies art at Avni institute and is an active artist, painter and sculptor. Eli's longing for happiness is molded into the harmonious movement of his dancer characters. The same ideas are also conveyed in a silent embrace or pastoral landscape. The underpinning notion is one of harmonies stasis and nirvana. A longing for absolute happiness and tranquility for a turbulent soul, for moments of serenity facilitated by silent embrace and harmonious movement of two unique souls and two intimate bodies in synchronized flow merging in body and soul. An interesting path leads Eli's work that starts as a drawing, then a burgeoning imagery, maturing into a painting and sometimes a multi-dimensional sculpture all born of a single idea. ...
Robert Gann - Statement I feel deep gratitude when I reflect on my work as a painter in this space I inhabit. My appreciation for the gift of work, the beauty of discipline, the satisfaction realized by completion strengthens me day by day. Titanic excitement up-wells from within when I approach a canvas with paint and tool. What happens next still begs my mind for explanation as the wings of intuition to take me away. When I look back at how this all began and see where I am today, I am satisfied with what is and eager to work out what is to be. As the goose flys high to see its way forward so too my reach is high as I press on. What is an artist statement Honestly it is about issues like my insecurity of being self-taught or my ambition to reach the heights. It involves being inspired by other artists, standing on their shoulders when possible by using what they have done to move forward with what I will do. The images that lurk inside me come and go like hobos that have been riding the rails for what seem like dozens of centuries. They present ...
Tiger Lily Jones - I create and offer my artwork to help bring nature indoors with a purpose to elevate and inspire the viewer. Nature is so creative and has the power of beauty and the power of transformation be it to calm or to excite. The effect nature has on us humans is so profound, even a photograph or painting of nature holds that power and I desire that my artwork expresses nature's beauty and power and that it will inspire emotion and renew the viewer's energy and purpose and good health. I believe my artwork will transform the space in which it hangs to benefit the viewer - to elevate your spirit, please your senses, renew your purpose, and support your soul. Nature inspires me. Color inspires me as it easily helps to express our emotional tones and dreams and is inseparable from nature. Color is nature's expression of infinite possibility and ingenuity. My photographs are not meant to be realistic.. They represent my memories of experiencing a particular natural place and have a dreamlike quality that tells the story of that experience; how the place affected me, transformed me, inspired me and I hope in turn, does the same ...
