Paul Litherland - Artist Statement - Paul Litherland Paul Litherland is a visual artist/performer living in Montreal. Primarily a photographer and producer of multimedia performances, Litherland works with themes of vulnerability, masculinity and ideas pertaining to how communications take place. His relationship to technology, one of simultaneous attraction and rejection is a constant underlying theme in all of his photo-based work. In life, as in his art, Litherland is compelled to create situations of physical and psychological danger. Finding ways to go through fear without panicking is a game of self-control that he enjoys on an almost daily basis. This desire to live an intense experience, as seen through his participation in the extreme sports of skydiving, motorcycling, BASE jumping and boxing is translated directly into his art practice. Litherland pinpoints these difficult, complex and sometimes cumbersome situations as mediums for direct and honest communications. His most recent works include multimedia productions and photographic projects such as: Art Photography, a photographic project inspired by the information that accompanies an artwork when it is photographed badly. It was developed while in residence in Mexico City. Most recently, the projects BOX, and ASCII Fighter, are boxing performances created for Le Rencontre Internationale ...
Anindya Roy - Here you can see a brief about my painting , my bio- data, and some recent paintings.A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO MY RECENT PAINTINGS During the period of training my works were mostly the reflectionof the city life, the aspiration and dreams of the urban middle class living in a molt-cultural and multi-lingual society. Those days I crated the works like ' back to the city', 'nagorik' etc., by mixed media. To develop the concept I have been traveling historical, and culturally significant places and try to conceptualize the togetherness of living and non-living objects and a sense of mystery. Things and particular colour encompassed me, thus my creative mind and feelings is blend. Through I have social, ritual relation with my surroundings, I would like to search there hidden relations of mine in my works. It is known there a relation among the living and non- living beings in nature. I saw a rhythm with the costume, ornaments, happiness, sorrow and habits of the rural people, I is wonderful to me when I inhale those things then, I express my feelings of love through my visual art work. Some times ' composition ' starts from my dream, which leads to ...
Sheila Fraga - Woman figure is the main theme of this exhibition entitled "Hope." Woman body has been an inspirational and interest motive for many artists in the Art History. I had intended to take this concept in order to reflect not only the woman beauty and sensuality but also to incorporate my own living experiences within the history frame that my generation had lived. I would like to establish a dialogue between the audience and my paintings to provoke controversy and interest toward concepts of identity, spirituality and love. Characters portray feelings of love, defiance, meditation, hope, and encourage the spectator to dream. Nudity is not used to identify woman figure as a sex symbol but a bearer of feelings, spirituality, expressiveness and determination to pursue happiness and new ideas in the social scenario. The use of celestial settings depicted In the skies and clouds are implemented to reflect spirituality and its interaction with daily life. Techniques such as oil, pastel and cut-out are present in my paintings and drawings as a mean to transmit emotions and expressiveness. It's creativity that strives me to seek new ways of expression to materialize my work. To create multiple scenarios with the only...
Jym Shipman - Once Upon a time in the early nineteen seventies there was a boy. This boy was very sick and had to live on a bed in a plastic oxygen bubble. Due to his illness he was alone without the usual ways to meet people and make friends. One day the boy's mother brought him a box of crayons and a pad of paper. He took the tools he was given and created a new life for himself. In this new life he created a healthy boy with friends and a world that understood and accepted him. Weeks had past and the boy soon left the "real" world to never come back. Weeks turned into years and the boy's mother greatly missed him. The mother reached into the boy's new world, with the help of a great doctor. Together the mother and the doctor did what they thought was best for the boy and brought him back to their "real" world. In the years since, the boy has grown into a man. His physical health has improved. However, because of his travels when he was a boy, he remained between the two worlds. This leaves the man today...
Tirzo Martha - The material doesn't need to be filled with words. It speaks for itself. It is our consciousness that has to translate it for us. My work is a loyal mirror of our societies, a reflection of a fragment from the thin line between fiction and reality. Tirzo Martha 2004...

Brikena Berdo - I cannot say what really led me to painting. I guess it is related to that inner desire which has made me express myself in this visual language. But what has mostly marked my art and driven me towards endless research is composed of notions such as the sense of time, childhood, human psychology and nature. I think, for some artists, it is true that what they have sought for in their art is something they have missed during their own life, a lack of anything from the real world of ours. I grew up in a aEURoegrey countryaEUR. I lived under a dictatorial regime until the 90aEURtms, which was followed by a transit period of destruction. Hence, so little has been inherited by the previous system. As a result what I perceived of those times came in colourlessly, greyish and meaninglessly in all aspects. It did not make sense at all. The absence of colours led to a hungriness and craving for greens and blues and yellows etc. This thirst for colours found expression later greatly and strongly in my paintings. I love colours and they are important, sometimes more than shape. I like to impose myself through ...
Ana Marini Genzon - Personal Statement My art is about people and the way they experience their lives. I intend for my artwork to reflect emotions and thoughts. While creating sculptures and paintings, I try to suggest a story, not only of the moment but also of an entire life. Not only of what we can see, but what is invisible to the eyes. Art is always a mirror. That is why it is so powerful. It speaks not only about my subject, but also speaks about my perceptions. In the process of expressing the mood of the subject's substance, I constantly go deep inside myself searching for answers about human relations in this fast and ever changing world. My work is a conversation in color inspired by the intricacies of nature. Through my paintings I explore texture, color and process. Texture is a significant component of my work as my goal is to create a surface, not just paint one. Education Ana studied art at The National Institute of Fine Arts Manuel Belgrano where she earned a BFA and at the National Academy of Fine Arts Pridiliano Pueyrredon in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she graduated with an MFA. Upon her arrival ...
