Evie O. Bridges - I have always been passionate about art. As a child, my Dad was my first fan. He encouraged me to pursue art since I enjoyed it so much. My Mom helped with my decision in choosing the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines where I finished my degree in Fine Arts. I worked as a junior artist before my college graduation, then later taught art and finally established my own tutorial business. Creating art gives me solace from my environment. I like studying people's features when I meet with them and finding beauty in my own way. Each person is unique so I try not to have a set formula for doing skin tones on my portraits. Respect for my subject comes through my work which displays my sensitivity as an artist to each individual's character. A camera can capture the likeness of a person; an artist can reveal the imaginative creation of a person's inner self. I find my inspiration by reading art books and how different artists approached their paintings into realism. I'm big fan of Steve Hank's work, he does stunning watercolors of pure visual enjoyment for the viewer. His insight ...

By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. Chary Castro-Marin - CHARY CASTRO-MARIN Artist's Statement I focus mainly on the theme of the particular piece and the communication of my feelings. These are my essential tools to connect with the viewer. By assuming the canons with which he or she is familiar I aim to create an atmosphere of empathy where a comfortable dialogue can ensue. As is obvious the relation with the viewer is crucial for me, my basic goal, since I consider myself merely a magic- maker. I begin by choosing a technical solution that seeks to manifest itself. In general I believe that's what painting is: the ideal vehicle to suggest illusions, hints of something that wants to be but that is only shapes and colors. The longing of all these years living outside of Cuba has marked me in profound ways, in diverse ways: from the language--the words themselves--the culture, the ethos. Through my work I metabolize the spaces that surround me and my vital experiences, the early life stages in Cuba and later here in the United States, first in New York and then in Phoenix. Living in these two American cities with very distinct and different identities and habits also...
Randy Sprout - I grew up in a small town in Northern Iowa, played football, coached the swimming team, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in printmaking studying under Mauricio Lasansky. I then went into the Army and ended up pulling 13 months in Korea on the DMZ. Coming out of Korea I entered UCLA and earned a MA and MFA in printmaking while studying under Jan Stussy and Stanton Mac-Donald Wright. The next year after the funds dried up on my Fulbright Award to Portugal, because of the Angola War, I was lucky to get hired by USC where I taught printmaking as a junior faculty member. I also replaced professors at UCLA when they went on sabaticals, and taught one year at Pierce College. In 1977 I tried Real Estate, you know just for the summer, but by fall I had purchased Century 21 Hollywood Inc. and had a new vocation going. Now 31 years into real estate, I'm coming full circle and starting to paint little quick studies 9X12. I'm using just 1/2 inch brushes and 5 colors. I intentionally limit my time to 2 hours after which I stop and throw ...
Daniela Huhurez - Since my childhood, I have been in touch with the artistic environment, having spent most of my time in my father's studio, a gifted painter. I studied Graphic Arts both in the high-school and university. I graduated in 2004 the University of Arts, and in 2006 I obtained my MA diploma in Fine Arts. When I work I always try to have a balance between my emotional and my rational approaches. Sometimes I draw several sketches spontaneously, because this is what I feel like doing, other times I have to elaborately shape my ideas from a more consciously perspective. My drawings are a part of myself and this is the reason why I do believe that the 'unconscious' and the 'subconscious' are deeply intertwined and play a decisive role in the process of creation. As a technique, I use the ink on paper. I choose carefully the sort of paper either finer or more textured depending on my next piece of work. I like the contrast between black and white because it is strong and eloquent, capable of captivating the onlooker. Sometimes I use a certain colour for its symbolism, for emphasizing a state of mind, a feeling. ...
