There is one more Kolkata which is being passed over to us through stories and tales from our grandparents aEUR"the yesteryearaEURtms Kolkata. A city, where one could take a tram ride with mere 2 paisa. A raise of one paisa in fare would put the city roads on fire and bring life to a standstill. When I felt that I had put together a substative portfolio, I identified as an artist. I am serious about my craft and I hope you enjoy viewing my work. Thank you....
Lana Picciano - Musical compositions are everywhere in nature. Most of my inspiration for the artwork colors and compositions are derived from landscapes, their light, color and moodiness. The sounds, the colors, and the the quiet spaces, touch me and stir the energies of my soul. I connect to the spirit that lightens our hearts and feeds the soul. My work is upbeat and joyful. The colors are bright and can be very playful. The art takes on a life of its own and becomes one with the surroundings. Nature has many colors, sounds, rhythms and moods. All of them are inspiring are inspiring to me. The painting is borne from within and finds its life in visual art. I begin with small colorful sketches using pastels, guache, oil pastels, etc. The colors and shapes are pushed around on art paper until they begin feel right. Little by little the colors and shapes are worked and re-worked, pushed and pulled. Once I am satisfied that the identity of the sketch is clear, I translate onto canvas with oil paints. The oil paint medium when applied to the canvas creates additional changes. The oils are worked very thin in layers. As the layers ...

Daniele Lemieux - My work is a celebration of humanity as represented by the universally familiar. I seek to instill the commonplace with the same reverence given by 17th century masters to objects denoting wealth and social position. As an antidote to modern day excessiveness, my deliberate choice and treatment of objects is an invitation to revisit the quiet dignity and poetry of the basic form. Objects become icons; valued for usefulness, not decoration; acquired through need, not through want. Stripped of artifice, they are symbolic of the desire to return to that which is true. My compositions are often loosely based on the classic triangle and are centered in the picture plane. This combination allows for a calm balance that can border on the spiritual. My artist's eye edits out the superfluous, seeking harmony and peace, offering the viewer a place where order replaces chaos.contemplation leads to an affirmation of self-worth. "The profoundest order is revealed in what is most casual." (Fairfield Porter) ...
Richard Solstjarna - Richard SolstjA$?rna born in Sweden, lives and works in Berlin. Abstract Painting dominates my artistic expression. In my paintings the Energy and Forces which are immanent in Nature are visualized. Forces at work in maximum self-sufficiency. Primary, undiluted, full of tension. Never at ease always in moment. A pulse in rhythm and rhyme. Emerging from a Void, an emptiness and silent space which is the source of its origin. The theme, the allegories and concepts form the basis of my creations and for the technique I will avail myself of. There are no rules. Any preconceived image are dissolved for that particular artwork to emerge. Installations are made when the theme and work calls for it. ...
Christine Alfery - My current thinking seems to be asking the age old question what is art Well - dont know why I say my current thinking - I have been asking that question ever since post modernism and all its relativity. Not only has art become part of the postmodern movement it has also become less precious because it seems everyone accepts the comments anyone can make art and its all about your own personal interpretation or how one sees things. I believe art, aesthetics, are all about personal interpretation. That does not make art relative and subjective. How can I say that Everyone is unique, all aEURoeartaEUR is unique. If an object is not unique, original, one of a kind, then it isnaEURtmt art. The idea, the concept, their uniqueness is art. Just like one person is unique to themselves, to their own individuality, aEURoeartaEUR is unique to itself and itaEURtms own individuality. It does not depend on collective thinking. NOT everyoneaEURtms ideas, concepts are art. Not every individual is an artist. They may create something that looks like art, it has a frame, it is in a gallery, the person who made it called themselves artists and their work ...
