Mark Raynes Roberts - "Crystal to me has always evoked nature's beauty creating its own alchemy within and reflecting the changing world all around us. It's a material humankind created over 330 years ago,and the closest we have come I believe as a species to adding untold beauty to the world we live in. It is also the material responsible for many of the technological advances we enjoy in today's world. From cell phones to the most sophisticated computers and telescopes, prismatic light and the crystal lens have been the cornerstones to allowing us to see ourselves more clearly and the universe beyond. Much of my introspective work over the past 25 years has dealt with the human experience and discovery of our shared humanity. So with the GLASSLANDS COLLECTION, it is my hope to build an educational tool to bridge the gap between our understanding of our fragile environment and the need for greater sustainability. John Neville Cohen - PAINTING WITH LIGHT 'Painting with light' is all about photographing projected images that surprisingly are not often projected on to a screen. John discovered the projector really is a magical magic lantern! Computers and digital images were unknown at the time when some of his finest pictures were created (some of them nearly 50 years ago). Yet they have stood up to the test of time and are still considered exceptional, making quite a statement! It was by chance, seeing an image projected, partly on the curtains and wallpaper that started this unique art form. By moving the projector and focusing on to other objects, noting how they distorted the image and influenced the texture and shape, led to the idea of photographing what could be seen. Then by adding more projectors he was also able to blend different images too and so 'painting with light' began. John started with an idea and experimented with various images, but he explained that sometimes something unforeseen happened, that sent him down a totally fresh route to create a very different picture than was originally planned, it is these 'inspired accidents' that have since turned out to be his very best works. Amit Bar - In 1950 I was born in Kibbutz Kfar Hamaccabi, Israel, where I lived until 1988. As a kibbutz-member I was not able to take a complete study at an art-college. Therefore I followed evening-lessons drawing for many years. In 1984 I finally got the permission to study creative art at the university. My study at the university of Haifa was combined with Comparative Literature and took three years. I have learned there a lot about various forms of Creative Art. As follows, I decided to dedicate my interest on photography. My final project was children photography. Since 1988 I live in Doetinchem, The Netherlands, and work as a freelance-photographer and painter. In my commercial work I take photographs for a stock agency and make commissioned work. Wishing to combine my photography with drawing and painting, I began to mix them in my artistic work. It began in 1992 with photo collages and took another form in 1996 with body-paintings. Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. Jeffrey Gougeon - I do the work to go through the process of solving problems and completing thoughts in an ever simplifying language. My goal is to create visual spaces where, in a Rothko sense, the viewer will feel the spiritual experience of color. My aspiration is to record the least cluttered path to this experience. The decision making process while working is a dialogue with the work. The technique of applying paint and the language of line, shape and color is almost always the same, but the process is responsive to each new, physical or otherwise, place.
