Linda Arthurs - I believe that my art should bring smiles to people's faces. When I was young I was highly political and everything I did had to have a message. During my life, my son Dennis was killed at 16 years old and my whole world changed. The pain was unbelieveable. I would not have made it except for the love that my son Conor gave me and gives me to this day. I decided that I only wanted to create beauty. I like to bring joy and colour into the world. I have travelled all over the world with my camera, and now I am a grandmother of two beautiful boys and am involved with people with developmental disabiliites helping them to become a part of their community and I do this through art. My language is color, forms and symbols that appear and disappear, and then, often by surprise, reappear. Sheila Fraga - Woman figure is the main theme of this exhibition entitled "Hope." Woman body has been an inspirational and interest motive for many artists in the Art History. I had intended to take this concept in order to reflect not only the woman beauty and sensuality but also to incorporate my own living experiences within the history frame that my generation had lived. I would like to establish a dialogue between the audience and my paintings to provoke controversy and interest toward concepts of identity, spirituality and love. Characters portray feelings of love, defiance, meditation, hope, and encourage the spectator to dream. Nudity is not used to identify woman figure as a sex symbol but a bearer of feelings, spirituality, expressiveness and determination to pursue happiness and new ideas in the social scenario. The use of celestial settings depicted In the skies and clouds are implemented to reflect spirituality and its interaction with daily life. Techniques such as oil, pastel and cut-out are present in my paintings and drawings as a mean to transmit emotions and expressiveness. Ellen E Hinson - My love of nature and the world we live in is demonstrated by the works of art that I paint. I use oils and watercolor and also love photography. I have been painting for many years, have taken various art instruction courses, but my training is mostly self-taught. I love to paint realistic animals and landscapes, but once in a while I will deviate to the whimsical painting....
Elio Lopez - Expressionism through color, depth, and the deconstruction of form Sight. Seeing. How do we see? Is it simply through optic sensations that we view and judge the world around us? Our circumstances? Or is there some deeper, psychological process we are/are not aware of at play? To what extent of what we see is colored by our own personal psychology? The psychology of our environment? Our society? What I ultimately love most about painting over all other mediums, is the flexibility allowed the artist. While the same may be said of other mediums, for me, this is especially true with painting. Recent technological developments in materials has decreased the medium's limitations. Now more than ever a wide variety of possibilities to express oneself exists. Currently the images I'm working with come from a long tradition in European (especially Spanish) painting. By searching for new ways to approach and create these archaic images, I seek to find a new way of self-expression.
